Lent 2020
The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is his name. Exodus 15:3  ESV

We face many challenges in our lives. Are they just bad luck, hard times or is there a spiritual connection?

“Following Jesus means conflict,” Derek Tidball writes in his book The Message of Spiritual Warfare.

The Christian life is, in fact, a life of spiritual warfare as believers battle temptation and the pressure to conform to the world, and, as our Baptismal service reminds us, we renounce “the devil and all the spiritual forces of wickedness that rebel against God.” (BCP 164)

There is however a tremendous amount of confusion, misunderstanding, and fear surrounding the whole subject of Spiritual Warfare. This Lent we will be taking a deeper look at this foundational aspect of our Christian life.

But first, our tradition begins with Shrove Tuesday, a day of penitence, a day to clean the soul, and a day of celebration as the last chance to feast before Lent begins...

Shrove Tuesday

Tuesday, February 25th

Enjoy Pancakes at home with family and friends

This year we invite you to enjoy pancakes at home with family and friends. Purchase your "shake and pour" mix this Sunday for $5.00. Pick up our special prayer cards with questions to ponder to ready your hearts for Lent as a guide while enjoying pancakes on Tuesday.

What a great opportunity to share: 1) your faith; 2) why we celebrate Shrove Tuesday, and 3) invite them to Ash Wednesday services and to join CSP in this year's Lenten study on Spiritual Warfare. It truly will be a great and unique way to launch us into the season of Lent, followed by...

Ash Wednesday Service

February 26th,2020

Two Services Offered
Noon and 7:00pm

Following our day of cleaning out the cupboard, Ash Wednesday marks the first day of Lent, a time when we prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation, and spiritual discipline. Services are offered at noon and 7pm to recognize the start of the season.

To help lead us into the topic of Spiritual Warfare, you are invited to a workshop led by Clark and Carol Smith of E412 Ministries...

Prayer, the Holy Spirit and Spiritual Warfare

A Lenten Workshop
 Saturday, Feb 29th 9am-noon

With Clark and Carol Smith of E412 Ministries.

The Clarks have been leading mission trips, conferences and workshops teaching Biblical principles of evangelism, discipleship and the Person and work of the Holy Spirit for the past 12 years. They have been to Iraq with Nancy and our CSP team serving with Kramers, and are long-time friends of the parish. They are active members of Christ Church Anglican, Savannah.

This workshop on the Holy Spirit and Spiritual Warfare is open to everyone in the parish. This will be a very helpful, practical teaching that will help us face the battles in our life.

We start at 9am and end at noon. If you have any questions please ask Fr. Craige. This will be a great investment of your time for your spiritual growth, to be followed by...

Lenten Soup Suppers

Wednesdays during Lent
Beginning on March 4th

6:15pm - 8:00pm

Our teaching series continues on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday evenings at our Lenten Soup Suppers. These gatherings have been successful in years past, and we are bringing them back again for you to experience the season to the fullest. Each Wednesday for five weeks, we gather around the table together, share a meal, and hear from guest speakers from around the diocese. Childcare is provided and we end promptly at 8:00pm.

Do you have a signature soup recipe that you are willing to cook up? Sign up this Sunday, or email Lynn in the church office.

These events and tools are set in place for you in this season. May you accept this invitation to the observance of a holy Lent.
