1.  What will fans give up to maintain their Disneyland habit?

Disneyland’s annual price increase used to elicit howling rage from its fans online. But this year, Disney’s latest increase seems to have generated not much more than resigned indifference.  No fan I know likes paying more to visit the parks. But if last year’s double-digit price increases were not enough to get you to rage-quit Disney, this year’s relatively modest increase surely wasn’t going to push you over the edge.

2.  Andreas Andersen: it’s great to be back at Liseberg

Last October, respected theme park leader Andreas Andersen surprised the industry when he returned to Liseberg as CEO. The news came just three months after he had left the park for an executive role at Tivoli in Copenhagen.

3.  Watch: 100 Years of the Jack Rabbit Coaster at Kennywood

As part of the coaster’s centennial celebration, the amusement park is collecting visitors’ most memorable Jack Rabbit/Kennywood stories in exchange for a chance to win a season pass.

4.  Disney’s Avengers Campus stunt show is looking for a few good Marvel superheroes

A new Avengers Campus stunt show will feature Spider-Man, Captain America, Black Panther and Black Widow fighting a sword-wielding villain along the rooftops of the Marvel themed land opening this summer at Disney California Adventure.
 

5.  Disney Will Survive Last Week's Theme Park Price Hike

It's been nearly a week since Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) pushed through the latest price hike on many of its tickets and passes for Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California. Theme park buffs naturally don't like when a day or year of fun gets more expensive, but they aren't likely to stop coming to Disney's gated attractions.

6.  New rumor points to Pixar Pier-style redo heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios

With Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge now fully open, and the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad attraction just weeks away, the future of Disney’s Hollywood Studios still has very little actually confirmed by Disney. But new rumors point to even more dramatic changes heading to the park in the coming years.

7.  Busch Gardens' president gets in on Presidents' Day with ticket giveaway

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — While people may have paused to remember George Washington and/or Abraham Lincoln on Monday, another president had an offer to appeal to people who enjoy amusement parks.

9.  Flooded Drayton Manor Theme Park closed for two weeks

Drayton Manor Theme Park will be closed until the end of the month due to severe flooding.  Staff are pumping thousands of litres of water out of the site near Tamworth after heavy rainfall caused the main park lake to burst its banks on Sunday afternoon.

10.  Disney Goes To Trial Over Theme Park Disability Access Policy

People with autism and other developmental disabilities could soon return to front-of-line status at Disney theme parks, depending on the outcome of a trial that starts Tuesday in federal court in Orlando, Fla.
 

11.  Six Flags and The Kraft Heinz Company Announce Multi-Year Marketing Partnership

12.  Awkward: also new website Walibi Holland easy to hack

A donkey does not generally hit the same stone twice, but Walibi Holland seems to be an exception. Last autumn the amusement park was extensively in the news after the Walibi website was hacked. Today a brand new website was launched , which should be a lot more secure. Nevertheless, a hacker managed to crack the ticket shop within half an hour.

13.  Innovative roller coaster in German amusement park closed after three years

A striking launch roller coaster in a German amusement park will be closed after three seasons. The Sky Dragster roller coaster, located in Skyline Park in southern Germany, is no longer operational this year. This is apparent from the park's new map. The innovative attraction is missing.

14.  Walt Disney World's castle is getting a royal makeover

The resort announced today that it will soon begin work on the Magic Kingdom's Cinderella Castle to give the park's centerpiece a royal makeover in advance of its 50th anniversary next year. This won't be the radical transformation that saw Disney change the castle into a "birthday cake" for the Magic Kingdom's 25th anniversary. Instead, it will update the castle's color palette in a style similar to that which Disney's Imagineers brought to Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland last year.
 

15.  Summer jobs: Kennywood, Sandcastle and Idlewild need workers for 2020 summer season

Want to work at an amusement park for the summer? Job applications are now being accepted for the 2020 season at Kennywood, Sandcastle and Idlewild & SoakZone.

1.  High-tech bowling venue could join Cinemark, Topgolf at I-35 and New Road

Developers of a 143-acre site on South Interstate 35 say they hope to add a high-tech bowling venue as a third anchor to their proposed entertainment center, along with Topgolf and a 14-screen Cinemark movie theater.

2.  Science Museum live: Updates as West London museum evacuated following 'incident'

An emergency message was played through the building's tannoys  Hundreds of visitors were ushered out onto the West London streets surrounding the museum.  According to witnesses the London Fire Brigade is in attendance.

3.  Andy Warhol Museum, Wyndham Grand Hotel Partner To Bring ‘Warhol Experience’ To Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Andy Warhol Museum is partnering with the Wyndham Grand Hotel to offer the “Warhol experience” in Pittsburgh.
 

4.  Pony Express sees over 1,100 visitors on family fun day

On Monday, the Pony Express Museum opened its doors at 10 a.m. for Free Family Fun Day, and within two hours, over 500 people had visited the national museum. By the end of the day, 1,187 people had visited, more than doubling the attendance at the event last year.

5.  Mulligan Family Fun Center gives South Bay residents one last day of fun before closing its doors

Torrance’s Mulligan Family Fun Center — known for its elaborate twin miniature gold courses, arcade games and go-kart circuits — was set to celebrate its final day of operation Monday, Feb. 17. The 6-acre lot was sold to settle the estate of owner Georgia Claessens, who founded the small amusement park in 1993.

Augusta’s Board of Zoning Appeals approved a “variance of a variance” Monday for a 93-foot-tall digital sign on Interstate 20 advertising Topgolf and other venues at the Village at Riverwatch.

1.  Rochdale Council in talks over Manchester zoo plan

Talks to build a new multimillion-pound zoo in Greater Manchester are under way, a council has confirmed.  Rochdale Council said it was discussing with a leading zoologist about developing council land near Hopwood Hall College in Middleton

7.  Officials say minor demolition work cause of fire at Buffalo Zoo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB)–On-site security for the Buffalo Zoo reported a small outdoor fire in the former outdoor habitat for the elephants at 5:20 p.m. Monday.

8.  Zoo’s improv show combines science, comedy

The Santa Barbara Zoo’s take on the hit show “Whose Line is it Anyway?” will have three shows at the Lobero in 2020, and tickets are on sale now.
 

9.  Red fox escapes enclosure inside Oklahoma City Zoo

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Update: Oklahoma City Zoo confirms that Zinc has been found in the next enclosure over.
Tourism / Other News

1.  Dying malls seek second life as entertainment destinations

Les Sandler has seen the future of the American mall, and it involves blacklight mini golf courses, archery tag (foam-tipped arrows, don’t worry), and interactive batting cages.  Sandler and his son Jonah run Scene75, a Dayton, Ohio–based company that’s found a niche in the new retail economy renovating old warehouses and big box stores to create massive entertainment centers. Since launching in 2009, their company has transformed furniture warehouses, former Kmarts, and other retail real estate into family-friendly venues filled with attractions and games.
 

2.  Tourism industry brings in record-breaking $23.8 billion for South Carolina

During the Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Travel on Monday in Myrtle Beach, officials announced the tourism industry brought in $23.8 billion during 2018. It’s the most recent year that data was collected.
