Total U.S. dairy exports hit $6 billion over the full 12 months of 2019, which is an increase of 8 percent compared to the previous year. The U.S. Dairy Export Council, funded through the dairy checkoff, is designed to enhance demand for U.S. dairy products and ingredients worldwide. 
New York Dairy Farmer Promotes Industry to 2 Million Viewers on National Fox News 
Dutch Hollow Farm’s Nate Chittenden of Schodack Landing, N.Y., promoted the dairy industry live on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” with Laura Ingraham on Monday. 

American Dairy Association North East first learned on Monday, February 10, at 5:30 p.m., that Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” was seeking a dairy farmer to conduct a live national television interview at 10:40 p.m., to counter anti-dairy claims made by actor Joaquin Phoenix at the Academy Awards the night before. 

ADA North East worked with Dairy Management Inc., to determine the best spokesperson – Nate Chittenden – and to arm him with media tips on route to the Fox studio in Albany.

New York State Dairy Royalty Selected to Raise Consumer Awareness, Confidence in Industry 
The 2020-2021 New York State Dairy Princess Court, from left to right: 2nd Alternate Princess Erin Armitage, New York State Dairy Princess Natalie Vernon, and 1st Alternate Princess Rachel Rouland. 
Natalie Vernon, the daughter of Casey and Dawn Vernon of Wayne County, was named the 2020-2021 New York State Dairy Princess on Tuesday. She will devote the next year as a dairy industry ambassador supporting ADA North East strategies with the goal of building consumer awareness and confidence in dairy farmers and dairy products.

Rachel Rouland, of Monroe County and daughter of Timothy and Kimberly Rouland, was selected as first alternate and second alternate was Erin Armitage, of Washington County, daughter of Kevin and Lee-Ann Armitage.

Nominate Deserving Farms for Dairying for Tomorrow Awards  
Applications are now being accepted for the 2020 Dairying for Tomorrow awards to recognize farmers’ passion for dairying and who use exemplary practices in three categories: animal care, community outreach and environmental stewardship. The program highlights farms that will help lead the industry into the future. Applications are due March 31.

600 New York High School Football Coaches Urged to Refuel Athletes with Chocolate Milk 
ADA North East recently presented the science behind why high-endurance athletes should “Refuel with Chocolate Milk” with 600 high school football coaches through at the New York State High School Football Coaches Association Clinic.
