February's ReSPECT Update

The end of 2019 saw us delivering a national overview of the ReSPECT process including approaches to adoption, education, current issues, early evidence and a case study at the Resuscitation Council UK Annual Conference in Birmingham.

The start of the new year has seen the network of adopters continue to grow and we have confirmed the dates for the adopter lead teleconferences for 2020. We are very excited to be hosting an “Adopter Lead Network Event” later this year. More news about this is to follow.

In January we had the opportunity to take our draft version 3 of the ReSPECT form and our “key messages” to the Scottish Alliance Patient/Public Focus groups. This experience was invaluable in gaining an insight from the patient/public perspective. With the help of these groups we have been able to refine and enhance these key documents. We are hoping that the final draft of version 3 will be imminently available on the ReSPECT process website for comments and feedback and for piloting at some of our adopter sites.

Our “ReSPECT process Ten Top Tips for Healthcare Professionals” and “Information for staff working in nursing/residential care homes” are being finalised and should be available soon.

(Catherine Baldock, Clinical Lead for ReSPECT)
