Menstrual Health and Hygiene Webinar Dialogue Series 2019/20
The next three web-dialogues in this series will focus on standards for menstrual health products. It will be co-hosted by the Menstrual Health Alliance India, the African Coalition for Menstrual Health Management, the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition and us.

A critical component of MHM is the use of effective and safe materials for absorbing or collecting menstrual blood. Traditional practices in low- and middle-income countries have seen the use of materials like cloth, hay and ash as absorbents. More recently, this need has been served by consumer products – disposable sanitary pads and tampons. Over the last few years, these products have evolved to offer increased absorbency and comfort to users. Innovations like the menstrual cup and the reusable cloth pad, have also become mainstream and now offer increased choice to women. However, true informed choice requires products to meet certain benchmarks of safety and performance. To this end, various manufacturers, civil society organisations and advocacy groups have been working on national and global standards for menstrual products.

The following web-dialogues will take an in-depth look at the development of standards for disposable sanitary pads, reusable sanitary pads and menstrual cups across different country settings in Asia and Africa and globally.
  1. 26th February 7:30am EST (1:30am CET / 6:00pm IST) – Topic: Disposable Sanitary Pads
  2. March – Topic: Reusable Sanitary Pads
  3. April – Topic: Menstrual Cups

The MHM Virtual Conference – 2nd April 2020
The Annual Virtual Conference on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) in Schools is already in its 8th edition, and this year’s theme is 'Innovation in MHM: Putting Girls at the Center'. It will highlight examples of programmes that have found new ways to identify and address barriers to safe and dignified MHM for girls in schools. Apart from innovations in products, services and facilities, this also includes novel, inclusive ways to end menstrual stigma and empower girls with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their menstruation.

Mark your calendars for 2nd April!

The deadline to submit your abstract for a verbal presentation is 23rd February.
Check out the pre-conference discussions on the Yammer platform. More information and registration for the conference is available on the MHM Virtual Conference Website.
