Notices & Reminders
Wellness Day - Friday 21 February
Tomorrow, Friday (21 February), will be a Wellness Day for learners. Parents who are unable to accommodate their daughters at home, may drop them at school where they will be able to work in a suitable venue.

Tax relief for Donations to the School
As you may be aware, we are coming to the end of the tax year on 29 February. RGHS is registered as a non-profit entity in terms of S21 of the Companies Act, and as such, any donations made to the school are tax deductible in terms of S18A of the Income Tax Act. We are able to issue a tax certificate on any donations made, whether by an individual or an entity. We would therefore like to appeal to you to make a donation to the school before the end of February. You can make a general donation, or specify where you would like your donation to be allocated: e.g. Astroturf replacement fund, PV solar electricity project, Capital Development fund, Financial Assistance for tuition fees. All donations are gratefully received.
Erinville Boarding House Auction
The Erinville House boarders, their parents and staff are arranging a cabaret evening on Friday 3 April 2020 to raise funds for improvements to the boarding house establishment.
To maximize the fundraising potential, an auction will be held at the function. We would be most appreciative of anything you as parents of the wider school community or your companies could donate for our cause. Names of our sponsors will be displayed on the tables. Please contact Doris Wyne on 079 7818 762 or wyned@rghs.org.za

News

School Solar PV project

The school is looking to invest in solar energy as its next step in its sustainability journey – we currently spend around R80,000 per month on the electrical needs of the campus, so this investment would not just be a “green” project, there are significant savings to be made as well.

We are looking for a parent who would be willing to act in an independent, advisory role with regard to setting up the specifications for the project, evaluating the bids received and expert advice during the installation phase. The person should have experience in any/all of the following industries: LED lighting, photovoltaic electricity generation, diesel generator backup, inverters and/or battery storage solutions. If you have such experience and would be willing to contribute some of your time and wisdom to this project, please email Graeme Broster on brosterg@rghs.org.za with a brief synopsis of your expertise.

If you have interest in businesses supplying the above services, keep an eye on future editions of the Bulletin, as well as our website at https://www.rghs.org.za/general-information/tenders/ where the final tender application invitations will be posted.

Valentine's events

The 14th of February was a rose-filled day for the Rustenburg girls this year. We received hundreds of roses from schools around Cape Town and left school on Friday with handfuls of them. Valentine's Day is also a day where Rustenburg girls show their care for one another by sending roses to each other. It was great to see so many girls feeling loved and appreciated by their friends. By Zipho Tom

Rustenburg held an exciting movie night on 13 February in spirit of Valentine's Day. The night was filled with laughs in an relaxing environment with pillows, popcorn and friends. Whether they were crying to Everything, Everything or singing along to Rocketman, the girls thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Many societies, such as Retro, Music, Pride and Busty Bugs, sold delicious foods. Thank you to everyone who collaborated to organise such an awesome event and to those who supported. Blood Donor Clinic

54 pints of blood were collected at the Western Cape Blood Service Donor Clinic on Friday 14 February. Thanks to everyone who donated.
