So much awesomeness! Let the pictures speak for themselves…
It would be impossible to miss that Atmosphere during the end of last year opened a new restaurant, a pool, a pool-bar, 8 premium pool suites and a new beach area. We have slowly been releasing pictures over time but we wanted to present some of our favorite pictures, displaying the new areas. Enjoy!

Downhill mountain biking
The only way is no longer up! Mountain biking with our fabulous biking guide Louie has become increasingly popular at Atmosphere. We have short scenic trails for families, medium trails for those who want a little more challenge and hardcore trails for dedicated bikers who may be training for a race. Guests can be biking through rivers, mango plantations and – in some cases – people’s gardens! No matter what trail they chose, the views of the ocean, islands and the mountains are spectacular. We have now extended our services to offer downhill biking for guests who love the downhill, but not so much the uphill. We will bring guests, Louie and the bikes up the mountain side and all they’ve got to do is race down. Sounds like fun? Just do it again!

F&B update
Let there be light in Ocean restaurant
In December, we opened up our new all day dining restaurant Breeze, sat by the edge of the new beach area. Our previous restaurant with its wine tasting room, was then transformed into fine dining evening restaurant Ocean. With the change, Ocean has received a bit of a facelift and the most recent change is the installation of airy ceiling mounted native bamboo light chandeliers. With their soft light, they give Ocean a warm feel, light up the tables and the beautiful food creations without being intrusive. A stunning example of Filipino artwork!

Have you met our beach butlers?
Guests who have been to Atmosphere the past couple of months after the extension, would have met our newly appointed beach butlers. For guests who enjoy lounging by the beach, or by one of the three pools, the butlers are there to serve them. In their airy white uniforms and caps, braving the sunshine, they keep the beach and the pool areas look sharp, they provide the blue beach towels, take food and drink orders, fill up water glasses and make sure that guests are happy. The beach butlers will even clean their sunglasses for them!

Sustainability
Bamboo toothbrushes & tablets
At Atmosphere, sustainability is key in everything that we do. It started with the building of our local soup kitchen, the removal of plastic water bottles, beach clean-ups and recycled paper and we are now on our way to completely remove disposable plastic. We staunchly support local products and most of our amenities are locally made or sourced. The most recent initiative is the replacement of our previous eco-friendly toothbrushes with bamboo toothbrushes made locally by Lipaymundo. One of our challenges has been to replace the small toothpaste tube, but we are excited to now offer toothpaste tablets from the same supplier. So next time your guests arrive at Atmosphere and forgot their toothbrush and toothpaste, they’ll be presented with a bamboo one and a small paper bag of toothpaste tablets.

Two PADI IDC's so far in 2020
2020 has been a busy year for Instructor Development Philippines. Our PADI Course Directors Berlinda, Tim and Tracy have been busy with two PADI dive instructor courses. The January IDC was a lot of fun, candidates braved the occasionally windy weather, and we were happy to wish Dirk, Arthur, Hughes, Toshi and Victor the best of success in their future career as dive instructors as they all passed with flying colors. The February IDC is still ongoing, we will keep you posted! The next PADI IDC at Atmosphere is scheduled to begin on March 30, contact us for details.

New excursions 2020
Siquijor day trips and bird watching
We pride ourselves in having an extensive excursion selection at Atmosphere. Whether guests wish to explore the beautiful island or enjoy water activities, there are so many options. Siquijor island has (literally!) been on the horizon for a while and we are now able to offer day trips to the mysterious and beautiful island with its waterfalls, caves and white beaches.
Another popular tour goes to the stunning Twin Lakes. The mountainous area is a known bird sanctuary and we now offer bird watching as an add-on as part of the Twin Lakes tour.

Finally it’s here – the Atmosphere Signature cocktail
It has been years in the making and much overdue, but inspiration struck with the new beach bar and restaurant opening and we just managed to finish the recipe in time for the grand opening in December. The Signature cocktail is a delicious mix of fresh local passionfruit, fresh mango, local Don Papa rum from Negros Island, a hint of Malibu and a dash of soda water for that slight sparkle. To top it off, it’s beautiful and matches our beach and pool furniture perfectly!

Photographer of the month
Henrik Gram Rasmussen – it’s all about the nudies!
Henrik has visited Atmosphere a few times the past three years and each time he takes incredibly beautiful photos of our macro critters. Of the rare critters found along the Dauin coast, nudibranchs have a special place in Henrik’s heart and during his past visit in December, he handed over an album of over 80 nudibranch photos – most of them different species or variations! We are super excited to have such a variety here – have a look at these select few!
