BIFD News

This Tuesday, March 10, dancing is from 6:30-9:30pm.

Tuesday, March 17 will have some dances especially for St. Patrick’s Day. The evening will end at 10pm after an extended request period. Wear green!

Remember to register for the Lyrids Folk Dance Festival 2020 which is April 24-26 in Vancouver. Read all about it, and register soon!

Want a good deal? We need some people to help out (~ 5 hrs during the weekend) at the festival - register for a work-exchange scholarship (check that option on the registration form) and get in for half price! See fees here.

Another option is to help exclusively. Experience the vibe of the festival, help at the registration desk, help serving snacks, and/or help at the festival market as needed. This would cost you nothing, you would get meals, and you might be able to do some of the dancing during quiet moments. Ask us!

Do you like the Lyrids Festival Shop? Jane has informed us that 2020 will be her last year in charge of the shop. Anyone interested in taking over responsibility for the shop? The new person can work with Jane this year and take over in 2021. Contact Jane.

Make sure to scan this newsletter for activities and events you might be interested in, and send in any announcements you would like to share with the other dancers to newsletter@burnabyfolkdance.org

Please direct suggestions and feedback to the contact form on the website, or directly to the club email.

BIFD Community Performances/Teaching
  • Performance practices Saturdays at 10:00 at the Burnaby Arts Council.

  • A couple weeks ago Jane asked who could come to a performance on a Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 near Canada Way and Boundary in Burnaby. It would be some performance and some teaching at a seniors recreation program. Jane asked if some Wednesdays were not possible. She received two positive replies from dancers who would be available any Wednesday.  “In the new year” was the only mention of a date.

  • No other performances are booked.

  • Contact Jane at jbkupfer@shaw.ca or 604-522-2031 for details.

If you would turn left you will see the Squalicum Yacht Club in front of you.

From the South, you can take Holly Street through town to "F" Street. Turn left onto F street toward the water and across the train tracks to Roeder. Turn right onto Roeder Ave Continue on Roeder to Coho Way (City Mac Store) Turn Left onto Coho Way. The first possible right is "N. Harbor Loop Drive".
