25 March 2020

Hello Neighbour

Well, life is changing before our very eyes. New challenges are presenting themselves to us almost daily at the moment, and new opportunities are also arising, though some are hard to see sometimes.

What a fantastic network of people you are. You are all contributing so much energy to ensure local communities continue to be supported in different ways, at a time when 'business as usual' seems to be off the table.

At NHT, we're working hard to adapt our work practices too, and exploring ways we can change/improve how we support you, given the current constraints on meeting face-to-face. To this end, we have set up some informal meeting times for anyone from the network who would like to meet via video conference.

The following links will add a calendar invitation for the weekly 10 am - 11 am Tuesday online video conference meetings, held from Tuesday 31 March to 28 April:  Click here to add to Google Calendar  Click here to add to Outlook Calendar

We've also set up A Facebook Workplace account - which provides a great space for discussion and sharing ideas and resources in a more private space. See below for details.

We're continuing to work how we can continue to best support you and your House in these difficult times.  We're very much open to feedback and ideas, so please send them through.  We are now all working from home.  There are various phone issues across the network too.  the office phone is being diverted to one of us, however we recommend emailing directly - and we can call you if you need.
You can reach us directly at:
  • Tracey - tracey@nht.org.au or 0407 499 973 - Monday to Friday
  • Karen - karen@nht.org.au Monday to Wednesday 9am-4pm
  • Louise - admin@nht.org.au Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning to 12 noon
  • Jonathan - jonathan@nht.org.au or 0429 581 095 - Monday - Thursday

Thanks, stay well and wash those hands

Workplace (by Facebook)Image result for workplace logo png

Workplace is an online social networking tool set up by Facebook, designed specifically for organisational situations.

NHT has set up and invited you to a Workplace group. The aim of this group is to help us communicate about issues of concern, share files and information, and keep our conversations in one place, rather than through emails or our publicly accessible Facebook pages and profiles.

The following link is your invitation to the online Workplace App. Once you click on the link, it will ask you to sign up.  If you already use Workplace, please just sign in. If you are new to Workplace, please sign up. Look for the button to ‘Join’ the group – towards the top right of the page – or check ‘Notifications’ – the little bell on the left panel of the page. Your 'Request to join' will then come back to Jonathan for acceptance before you will be able to actually join the conversations. Once your request has been accepted you will be able to access the group page.

We've already uploaded some good conversations to the group about self-care, and how to talk to kids about the Corona virus.

While we're all still focusing on the various responses to the Corona virus, we're still starting to plan an event for Neighbourhood House Week (8th - 15th May) as it is  less than two months away!! Our theme this year is #TogetherWeAreTheAnswer

Although we expect we will not be able to meet face-to-face, we will be aiming to host an event online. It's important we continue to celebrate the great (if changing) work of Houses.

Reporting requirements...

Reporting requirements typo...
There is no requirement for Houses to provide 6 monthly financial reporting, despite it inadvertently appearing in the Strategic Framework part 2 and the reporting summary recently released. Houses instead provide an annual financial report by 30 November each year. The full reporting details are available in the Managers Operations Manual the new Workplace app - Neighbourhood House Network.
