From The Main Committee

The main committee are delighted to announce, that following the successful re-decking of part the East Pontoon with a much less goose friendly surface last year, it has now been agreed that the same surface will be put onto the remainder of the East pontonn and the whole of the West Pontoon.  The work will be carried out in-house by our brilliant House Work Party members and should improve both the management of goose-poo and slipperiness when wet for all users.   If you are able to give some time to this project the House team would be pleased to hear from you   Contact Ray and Roger on house@papercourt-sc.org.uk.   It is hoped the works will be completed before the Season begins in earnest and many hands will make this happen all the sooner.

We are also pleased to advise that the very last part of the current refurbishment of the clubhouse will soon be undertaken, with some plastering and other related work in the bar area
.
Corona Virus Update

As corona virus has been detected in Surrey and London it is right we give some advice on the matter.

Our priority is the health and well-being of our all our members, so we ask that you please use common sense and follow a few guidelines.

* if you are currently feeling unwell with any flu-like symptoms, (regardless of how mild),  please DO NOT come to the club for 2 weeks

* We can all limit the spread of infection by remaining vigilant in keeping our hands clean by washing thoroughly and regularly with soap and water.

As this is a fast moving situation please see and follow the Government’s advice by clicking the button below

Spring Course for Adult and Older Cadet Beginners

Bookings are open for the above course which is aimed at those with little or no dinghy sailing experience.  Working towards RYA Level 1 and Level 2 it covers everthing from rigging to retrieving a man overboard, and everything in between.  Adults and over 16s.  Places are being snapped up so if you want to book, please email training@papercourt-sc.org.uk as soon as possible to book or if you need any more information.

Quiz Night - Saturday 4th April - 7.30pm

Another Quiz night is coming up.   We are always pleased to welcome friends and family as well as members to these popular evenings.  There wil be a posh ploughmans supper, and lots of fun, and the bar will of course be open.   You can book in ones or twos or make up a team of up to 8 people.   It is a great way to meet other members if you are new to the club.   To book, please email snowmail@btinternet.com as soon as possisble.

As this is a catered event, we need to know numbers in advance, so booking is essential.
A Media Project - are you a Media Guru, or a Media Studies Student?

We are looking for someone who could make a short video for our website, of sailing and activities at Papercourt.   If you are looking for a project, or just like doing this sort of thing, or are a student needing to bulk up your portfolio, please contact Jeremy Sumeray on jeremy.sumeray@btinternet.com
Work Party Review

A huge thank you to all of you who turned out in force last Sunday to help complete a wide array of tasks which help our club to be so well presented and organized.

We had a total of 55 people who were welcomed by a lovely sunny day and the promise of a fabulous free lunch. A big thank you to the team who prepared and served the delicious hot meals and refreshments all day, as well as clearing it all away at the end of the day.

We have managed to complete a wide range of tasks including a new lawn fence, new perimeter fence posts, weeding, gardening, moss clearance in the car park, rubbish clearing and the long walk to the supervised burning site , sorting and overhauling furniture, raking stones back to below the clubhouse damp course level,  jetty repairs, buoy and safety boat cleaning, preparing the club hire boats, carpeting, clearing the entrance road and preparing for new grass and flower seeds, descaling the showers and taps, cleaning the security camera housings, installation of paving stones for the club boats and the fuel store and many others too numerous to mention. These all ensure that the standards of the club are upheld and ready for yet another season of sailing.

It was a great day and demonstrated the true club spirit which makes Papercourt such a great club.

Roger and Ray - House Chairs

From the Commodore - I would like to add my personal thanks to Ray and Roger for such a brilliantly organised and executed Work Party, as well as to the galley team who fed everyone, and all those who took part.   Fraser Hayden, Commodore
