Wetzikon, Switzerland – After two sessions of play on Friday (6 March) at the World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2020, being staged in Wetzikon, Switzerland, the gold medal game is set.
In the morning's qualification games, Canada needed an extra end to defeat Korea, 5-4, while Russia stole the win against Norway in an extra end, 6-4.
Both Canada and Russia then moved onto the semi-finals, to meet previously qualified Sweden and China respectfully. In the semi-finals, Russia beat the defending champions and only undefeated team, China, 9-4. In the second semi-final, Canada stole the win against Sweden in an extra end, 3-2.
Russia and Canada will now meet in the gold medal game on Saturday (7 March) at 14:30 while China plays Sweden for the bronze medals at 10:00.
It was announced prior to the semi-finals, that Czech Republic's vice-skip, Radek Musilek, won the Sportsmanship award, which is voted on by all competitors.
All times are Central European Time (CET) which is one hour (+1) ahead of Universal Coordinated Time (UTC).
