New Professional Education resource:

Research Unit: Improving quality testing of stem cells for patients.

  • Cord blood — the blood left in the umbilical cord after a baby is born — is a rich and important source of stem cells for transplantation. Research from the Centre for Innovation has improved a procedure for testing thawed cord blood samples to produce results that better reflect the quality of the cord blood unit and may increase the number of cord blood units that can be released for transplantation.
