CIC Launch Roadmap for Change
 
CIC has launched its Roadmap for Change, a new digital resource to promote industry best practice, at Futurebuild, in London on 3 March 2020. The Roadmap for Change is a digital platform designed to highlight the good work being done in the construction industry to bring change. The initiative was created by CIC’s Diversity and Inclusion Panel and spearheaded by its Chair, Maria Coulter BEM. [Read More]
Housing Minister launches competition to deliver homes fit for the future
 
Housing Minister Christopher Pincher has today (2 March 2020) launched a competition to attract the best and brightest talents of the housing industry to design the homes of the future. Government sets aside £20m funding for nationwide rail station accessibility improvement
 
The enhancements announced by the transport secretary, Grant Shapps, are funded through the Access for All programme and will include new lifts, accessible toilets and customer information screens across 124 stations. It comes as a new government campaign launched this week to improve the journeys of disabled passengers on public transport. [Read More]

New coalition of organisations demanding action to ensure all new homes are accessible and adaptable
 
November saw the launch of a new coalition of high-profile housing organisations calling for action to defuse a “timebomb” in the provision of accessible housing for the UK’s ageing population and people with disabilities. HoME (Housing Made for Everyone) is predicting a “dangerous shortage” of suitable homes in the future. [Read More]
New RIBA Publishing: 'Are you an inclusive designer?'
 
The book, written by Julie Fleck, puts forward a powerful case for a totally new attitude towards inclusivity and accessibility.
