We're thrilled to welcome Bean Gill for a talk on accessibility and inclusivity on March 10th!

No one expects to have a disability so when it happens it comes with a steep learning curve. Bean will explain how her life was impacted by a spinal cord injury and how inaccessible the world really is. Between physical barriers and attitudinal ones, it's no surprise why so many people live in isolation...let's put an end to that and truly live in an inclusive world.

We know the dictionary definition of inclusion- but what does it really mean?

In this blog post written by Kate Green, a mother to a child with Down syndrome, she explores this question and shares what inclusion means to her.

"In a truly inclusive society, we see and nurture everyone’s potential."

What Inclusion Really Means

Join us on March 24th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm for a presentation on the hidden supports that are available for caregivers- presented by Katrina Breau!

Katrina will be sharing her knowledge on the financial, emotional and nutritional support available from all three levels of government and your community. She will also be sharing ways that you as the caregiver can gain clarity and support for your own mental health along this caregiving journey.

This workshop is being offered both in-person at our office and online

In this episode of the CBC Podcast Tapestry, guest host Christa Couture asks, "where to begin when it comes to celebrating my disability?"

"Twenty-five years have passed since my left leg was amputated above the knee, and it's been a long process of adapting. I've accepted my disability, but lately I've wondered: could I also celebrate it?"

We're thrilled to welcome the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association for an informative talk on hearing loss on March 10th!

This presentation takes participants on a path of understanding hearing loss, recognizing unrealistic expectations people have of hearing aids, develop an understanding of what they need to do to reconnect with loved ones, develop more knowledge of what is available to those with hearing loss, and learn to laugh at the foibles of hearing loss.

Presented by Cindy Gordon, Executive Director for The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association-Edmonton Branch
