Miami's only Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member and long-time FIU supporter Sam Moore was honored at the Foundation for New Education Initiatives, Inc.’s fourth annual For The Love of Learning Gala. The gala celebrated the great work of Miami-Dade County Public Schools in enriching the lives of over 354,000 young people and providing top-notch educational programs to ensure the future for our students and community. The event was chaired by FIU supporters Trish and Dan Bell and Superintendent of Schools, Alberto M. Carvalho. CARTA board chair, Rick Tonkinson and his wife Margarita, as well as FIU benefactor and iSTAR board member, Kimberly Green, were also in attendance.
Sam Moore, along with his wife, Joyce, teamed up this fall to merge the arts and business as they begin providing masterclasses and educational sessions on their wealth of expertise in the music industry to FIU. The Moores will provide additional artistic excellence in the vocal performance area coupled with lectures about essential music business skills to develop and sustain a national and international career in the global music industry. Before getting hired, I also interned at Viacom where I learned so much about syndicated shows and met so many people who I now know in the industry.
