Law, Ethics, & Risk Management in Clinical Practice

Dr. Russell Gold has been a Psychologist in private practice in San Diego for the past forty years. He is past-secretary, past-president, and current Fellow of the San Diego Psychological Association. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the California Psychological Association’s Ethic Committee. In this presentation, he will discuss how therapists can reduce risk in cases where couples divorce, drawing from his expertise in performing child custody evaluations and mediation by court appointment, and as a Parent Coordinator.

• Develop effective and appropriate informed consent policies and procedures.

• Discuss relevant legal/ethical standards which govern lawful and sound clinical practice.

• Apply appropriate legal and ethical standards to various clinical circumstances.
