FACING HOME
LOVE & REDEMPTION

Remarkable poetic contemporary dance featuring Bob Marley's songs.
You are invited to use the promo code LOVE to get the special deal of $25 +HST tickets!
A contemporary dance work that investigates the global impact of Bob Marley’s music—its expression of humanity’s struggle and inspiration toward love, redemption and hope.

Set to renditions of Marley's music, as well as popular dance-hall music, the work faces a West Indian paradox, which allows for the liberation found in Marley’s music while the lyrics in dance-hall simultaneously suppress the abilities and oppress members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities. FACING HOME emerges as a conversation in African Diaspora contemporary dance and poetry, with space for community dialogue.
"FACING HOME is meant to impact migrant populations, generate change and ignite the LGBTQ community, its supporters and service workers everywhere it's performed and beyond." - Kevin A. Ormsby, co-creator

Hailed as embodying artistic diversity in technique, form and presentation, KasheDance echoes in a new genealogy of Afro-contemporary dance steeped in modern dance, ballet and rooted in dances of the Diaspora. The production features poems by American National Book Award finalist Danez Smith and Christian Robinson. This celebrated dance company is rooted in a technical style grounded in human expressions, poly-rhythms and technical virtuosity. Each performance will feature a talk back with the cast of the production.
