First Things First

Yes, I know it's been a long time since I've sent out an actual Council Newsletter.  There are a couple of reasons for this.  Primarily, I've still got a full-time day-job and a little bit of a life I do enjoy. Alternatively, I don't know how efficacious this channel of communication has become.  When I first started, I was getting a very high open/interaction rate.  Anymore, I'm lucky if 50% of the people receiving these emails even open them.  I post a lot of material on our Facebook page and on our website.  Again, not a whole lot of engagement. If anyone has a better idea on how to keep everyone informed about what we're doing, I'm all ears.  If someone would like to take this over, again, I'd be happy to show you what I've done so far.

Alright, my rant is over.  Almost.

We've got a lot of new Brothers added to this email distribution (as well as all of our seminarians/novices) and it would be easy to get the idea that we're mostly about praying the Rosary at funerals.  If I've worn you out on that topic, I'm sorry.  We do get asked frequently to honour families requests for a reverent prayer service for their loved ones.  I think the reason we get asked so much is we do a nice, respectful job of it.  If you've never joined us, please consider it.  Maybe you don't have all the prayers 100% down, it's ok.  You've got enough of it to show up and help out.  I told Norm once, "I always struggle with the ending prayers."  He looked at me and in his kindly way, put his big hand on my shoulder and replied, "It's ok. Try saying them every day. That'll help."  Ya know what, he was right.

Pray what you know, lip-sync the rest. It gets easier.

Ok, NOW the rant is over.

Fish Fry, Friday, March 13th

It started innocently enough.  A couple of us decided we'd crash the Imply City Council's Fish Fry.  That was many years ago.  Fast forward and it's become a Lenten Tradition.  Last year we had about 30 people from St Clement and SS John and Paul show up.  It's always a great time.  We get to just hang out without having to cook anything or really do much work except the occasional trip for another pitcher of beer.

This year we are venturing north again.  Next Friday is the date.  If you're going, just show up around 5 pm.  (If you wait much longer the food isn't as good.).

Please pay your dues

We've done pretty well so far this year in collecting dues.  I'd say about 70% of the members who have paid have done so through our website.  If you've not had a chance to take care of it, please do so.  I'm about to send out another round of notices.  PLEASE.  It's expensive and time-consuming to keep sending mail.  We're all big boys here,  Please take care of it.
Pay My Dues
That's all for this evening.  I've got a meeting first thing in the morning and Lord knows I need my beauty sleep.  Consider coming to Imlay City with us on March 13th.  It's a hoot.  Come to the scheduled meetings. All the action starts there.  Show up to the rosaries we lead.  Stand next to Norm, he'll help you though it.

Till next time.

Thank You

Insurance check-up for 2020

I hope that 2019 was a healthy, prosperous year for you and your family. It’s said that time flies, and the older we get, the more that statement seems true.  As we review the past year and prepare to welcome a new one, we wonder where the time goes.

If you’re like most people, you’ve made some resolutions for 2020.  If I may, I’d like to make two suggestions regarding your resolutions.  First, write them down.  A resolution is really a goal for the year and, until you commit a goal to writing, it’s nothing more than a wish.  Writing a resolution down is the first step towards achieving it.  Whether your goal is to lose weight, contribute more time and money to charity, read more or watch less television, you’re more likely to accomplish it if you write it down.

Second, schedule some time to visit with me, your professional Knights of Columbus insurance agent.  The “insurance check-up” that I’ll provide (free of charge, by the way!) will quickly identify any gaps in your family’s life insurance program.  And you’ll want to fill those gaps now, not later.  Because unlike many other products, you need more than money to obtain life insurance.  You also need good health, and no one will ring a bell warning you when your health is about to change.

Knights of Columbus life insurance offers something precious few other financial products can – guarantee.  As long as you pay your premiums, the policy proceeds will be there for your beneficiaries should something happen to you.  We call that peace of mind, and that’s (as they say in the credit card commercials) priceless.

In Christ,
