Repair Cafe

Guest speaker Eric Bachman will be discussing his experiences with Repair Cafes.  Bachman serves on the board of the Onion River Exchange, a timebanking organization based in Central Vermont.
Together with the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District, Bachman and Onion River Exchange have brought about several successful Repair Cafe events in Central Vermont.

The Brattleboro Time Trade Repair Cafe event was postponed last Fall, but
will now be happening this Spring!  Brattleboro Time Trade has recently been awarded funding from the Ben and Jerry's Foundation and the New England Grass Roots Environment Fund towards this event!

Bachman will explain how a Repair Cafe works, and how it helps to build community! This is your opportunity to find out how this kind of event fits in with the work of the time trade, and how to get involved in making this event happen.
Tool Library

Did you know that Brattleboro has appointed a Sustainability Coordinator for the first time? Together with the Brooks Memorial Library and the Brattleboro Time Trade, Sustainability Coordinator Stephen
Dotson is one of the driving forces behind the effort to create a tool library project for Brattleboro.  Dotson will speak about this project, and discussion will include how this work fits in with the work of the Brattleboro Time Trade and with building more sustainable and resilient communities.
Strategic Planning and Leadership Development Retreat

You may or may not be aware that Brattleboro Time Trade developed a strategic planning document several years ago. Many things in the
organization have changed since then, as we've transitioned from an organization with a paid coordinator to one that is entirely member operated and coordinated!  Amazingly, the strategic planning document remains a relevant and inspirational document for us to use in thinking about the future success of our organization. So, with the goals outlined in that document in mind, a small committee is planning a strategic planning and leadership development retreat.  We want to think about the following:
  • how to better implement the goals outlined in the document
  • how to increase, energize, and motivate our present membership
  • how to develop our members into leaders, to bring about the goals of the organization as a whole
Tentatively planned for early this Summer,  this event is for YOU if you are excited about stepping up your role in the Brattleboro Time Trade!  We will be discussing the strategic plan, the upcoming retreat, and doing a "Visioning" exercise at the Annual Meeting to prepare ourselves for this retreat!
Board Elections

As usual, we will be electing board members at this meeting!  If you know someone who is interested in serving on our board, please put them in touch with Kip Tewksbury. Members may also nominate other members or self-nominate for board positions at the Annual Meeting.  On the ballot at this point is veteran board member Robbie Paley, up for re-election, and long-time Time Trade member Beth McKinney.
