More information about the Book Club event here

More about the book:
This New York Times best-selling book explores the counterproductive reactions white people have when their assumptions about race are challenged. White Fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. In this in-depth exploration, DiAngelo examines how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what we can do to engage more constructively.
Monday, March 16 - 19, Library
Secret Garden Book Fair
The Secret Garden Book Fair is Coming Soon!
When: March 16th – 19th
Where: In the library
Why: To get books into the hands of readers and to fundraise for the library budget.
All students will visit the fair with their class for a scheduled visit. Families will be able to visit after school for an hour on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday as well as during Art Night which is scheduled for Thursday March 19th. You will receive more information before the fair.

Please consider volunteering! We need helpers to set up the fair Friday, March 13th as well as cashiers throughout the school day and during after school times. On Art Night we need cashiers and a crew to help take down the fair. Please consider helping for one or more slots. The work isn’t difficult, and you can be easily trained at the start of a volunteer stint. However, you should have volunteer paperwork filled out.

Staff Appreciation Lunch
Second Grade Families, you outdid yourselves by providing an amazing Mexican Fiesta for the West Woodland And Kids Inc Staff in January! The array of vegetarian/vegan/meat eating options were out of this world and truly enjoyed by all staff!

The staff felt so appreciated the entire day. They all came in for snack tacos and desserts throughout the day! Many staff told us that this luncheon means so much to them. They get to eat together in which they never do and get to have meaningful casual discussions with each other.

The next luncheon will be Thursday, March 26th and will be hosted by 1st grade families. Keep an eye out for the sign up genius.
