Coronavirus Update
The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”).

The coronavirus was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, and now it has spread to Japan, Iran, South Korea, Italy, the US and many others.

Currently there is no vaccine or treatment for the virus. Not everybody that contracts the virus has to be hospitalized.

For confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death. Symptoms can include:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath
The CDC believes at this time that symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as 2 days or as long as 14 days after exposure.

If you develop a fever, cough or shortness of breath that does not get better in a few days please notify your PCP or Cascade Health Clinic right away.

If you are sick with COVID-19 or suspect you are infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, follow the steps the CDC steps to prevent the disease from spreading to people in your home and community.

Isis Villasenor a student at Sultan High School who is working on becoming a medical assistant is  now interning at Cascade Health Clinic. She will be working various days at the clinic, and helping out. If you see her please welcome her and help her with her learning experience! Health Benefits of Andrographis


Andrographis is a herb that is used in Chinese medicine and Ayurvedia. This herb is used for many health reasons most commonly flu and cold. However its also used to treat the following:

Melatonin comes in liquid, capsule, lozenges, and chewable tablet forms. Its safe short term for most people. Taking it for too long can deplete your natural production of melatonin making it harder to sleep after long term use. Thus, melatonin should be used short term and not forever. Melatonin should be only taken as needed here and there.
Melatonin is used for several reasons:
  • Improves Sleep
  • Increases production of immune cells
  • Antioxidant
  • Improves Jet Lag
  • Calms Stress
  • Protects against free radicals

Tips to Improve Sleep

Many people have issues falling and staying asleep each night. These tips can help you set the mood in your bedroom and get a better night rest.
  • Make your room dark, comfortable, peaceful and the right temperature for you
  • Meditate or do yoga stretching before laying down
  • Take a Epson Salt bath
  • Drink Chamomile Tea
  • Turn off TV, Cell phone and electronics 1 hour before bed and keep out of bedroom
Magnesium also helps improve relaxation and sleep. It binds to GABA in the brain receptors and and helps you fall asleep faster. Valerian, Lemon Balm, Catnip, and California Poppy are also helpful herbs for sleep.

Green Smoothie Recipe

  • 1  banana
  • 3/4 cup frozen pineapple
  • 2 blood oranges, juiced
  • 3/4 cup coconut milk
  • 2-3 Tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 big handfuls fresh or frozen greens (kale + spinach are best // organic when possible)
 
Blend all ingredients, and enjoy!
