City Council welcomes new Ward 3 Councillor

The Ward 3 By-Election Results were certified on February 25, and Ann-Marie Kungl will be Barrie’s new Ward 3 Councillor. Kungl will be officially sworn in to office at tonight’s (March 2) City Council meeting.

Mapleview Drive East closure: March 2 – May 15

Mapleview Dr. E. will be fully closed from Yonge St. to Royal Jubilee Dr. to allow for the installation of transmission watermain, sanitary trunk sewer, and associated road works. The work will ensure the City has infrastructure in place to service developments, including the new south Barrie high school. Barrie Transit is on detour and providing a shuttle bus to accommodate GO Train trips. Learn more.

 
 

Dunlop Streetscape Project continues throughout 2020

Construction along Dunlop Street will be split into three stages between March and November, 2020. Businesses will be open and the street will remain open to pedestrians. We encourage residents and visitors to support local stores, restaurants and services! Free parking is available at two parking lots: Chase McEachern Way and Maple Avenue Central. I Love Barrie contest open to Barrie's youth

The 2020 I Love Barrie contest is accepting entries and the prize pool for this year's competition has grown! The contest is open to all elementary and secondary students in Barrie, and invites youth to share why they love Barrie and why it's a great place to live, grow and learn. Submission deadline is March 31. Get contest & prize details.

 
 

Registration open for Spring/Summer rec programs

Register now and stay active this spring and summer! Choose from hundreds of affordably priced fitness and dance classes, swimming lessons, sports leagues and so much more. Copies of the Recreation Guide are available at City Hall, Barrie Public Library branches, and recreation centres.
