NATIONAL PUBWATCH CONFERENCE AWARDS – CARDIFF 2020

Four worthy recipients of NPW Awards were recognised at the 17th annual conference, held at the Jurys Inn, Cardiff. The winners were:
Amanda Newbery – Award of Merit
Amanda is the Managing Director of Chapel Night Club and the Chairperson of Salisbury Pubwatch.
Kate Purves – Malcolm Eidmans Award
Kate is a Crime Prevention Officer with Northamptonshire Police.
Grayson Underhill – Bravery & Meritorious Behaviour Award 
Grayson is the Head Door Supervisor of the Thekla Night Club in Bristol.
Barry James – Bravery & Meritorious Behaviour Award
Barry is the Head Door Supervisor of the Sir Henry Tate, Chorley.

LANCASTER SERVES ‘DRINKS NOT DRUNKS’ IN CHRISTMAS PUB CAMPAIGN

PUBWATCH GROUP HOPE FOR A PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS

A ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards anti-social behaviour has been adopted in pubs across Widnes to ensure customers enjoy the festive season in peace.  Widnes Pub Watch says it wants to provide a safe, cheerful environment in Widnes pubs where people can enjoy themselves without the threat of anti-social behaviour from a small minority, and are working closely with Cheshire Police and Halton Borough Council…(read more here)

PUB LANDLORD SPEAKS OUT ON ‘UNACCEPTABLE’ BEHAVIOUR OF CHRISTMAS DRINKERS

A Bristol publican is hoping for a happy Christmas for all – including pub staff.  Paul has put out a message that pub-goers enjoy themselves at Christmas and throughout the year, and respect pub workers.  He said “The disrespect that people have for staff that work in this industry, the verbal and threatening behaviour that staff deal with is totally disrespectful and shouldn’t be tolerated. ”…(read more here)

HIGH TECH VIOLENT CRIME DETERRENT ROLLED OUT COUNTY WIDE AFTER TRIAL

Earlier this year we told you about a trial project taking place in Sheffield, which saw night-time venues across the city issued with SmartWater canisters in a bid to deter violent crime and behaviour.  The good news is the trial was a success and today (6 December) we’re rolling out the scheme across the rest of South Yorkshire, providing an extra deterrent to those intent on causing problems in our pubs and clubs…(read more here)

CRACKDOWN ON ALCOHOL FUELLED TROUBLE LAUNCHES IN CUMBRIAN PUBS

A crackdown on alcohol fuelled trouble in pubs could see revellers receive a lengthy ban.  Any offences fuelled by alcohol in Whitehaven like assault, disorder and drug crime will incur a 13 month ban.  The stricter punishment will impact the social life of culprits; excluding them from the towns public houses and off-license premises…(read more here)

SIX PEOPLE BANNED FROM NEWTOWN PUBS – INCLUDING ONE LIFETIME BAN

Six people have been banned from pubs in Newtown after being arrested for alcohol related crime and disorder, police said.  The bans, ranging from 12 months to life, were issued under the Behave or Be Banned scheme following a recent Pubwatch Committee meeting…(read more here)

POLICE ‘ABUSED’ ON DRUG CRACKDOWN PUB VISITS

Police are considering prosecuting a number of people who showed ‘abuse and hostility’ towards them when they visited licensed premises in Meirionnydd and Dwyfor recently.  A team from North Wales Police visited pubs and clubs in Porthmadog, Criccieth and Penrhyndeudraeth, with support from detection dogs from Wagtail UK…(read more here)

BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT LAUNCHES A PUBWATCH SCHEME

Birmingham Airport officially launches its first Pubwatch Scheme. SHROPSHIRE-WIDE PUBWATCH SCHEME LAUNCHED

Having a night out in Shropshire will soon be safer than ever following the introduction of a countywide Pubwatch initiative.  The move means offenders can be banned from every pub in the scheme, with organisers calling for more towns to get involved…(read more here)
