Where did work before you came to RTG?
I’ve been working at UCLA in various capacities since I started my MA/PhD program in the department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance in 2012. While at UCLA, I’ve been heavily involved with the Digital Humanities program, worked as a Research and Instructional Technology Consultant at Humanities Technology (HumTech), and served as a content coordinator on the NEH funded IDRE project, VSim. Prior to UCLA, I worked extensively with museums for over a decade, including the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History (Washington, D.C.), the Institut national d'histoire de l'art (Paris, France), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Getty Research Institute (Los Angeles, California). I also run my own digital arts consulting business.
What project(s) at UCLA/RTG have you worked on that you are most proud of?

Working with Lisa Snyder on VSim and it’s online repository and archive has been a highlight of my time at UCLA and the RTG. As a digital platform that allows for real-time interaction with 3D models, VSim expands notions of research publishing, teaching methods, and learning opportunities. The principles that VSim is founded on have shaped my research and perspectives on extended reality (XR) technologies. I am excited to continue to support the growth of the VSim Repository and Archive that is jointly supported by the UCLA Library.

What’s your favorite aspect of your role at RTG and why?
As a digital research consultant, I am able to support a diverse set of fascinating research. I love having the opportunity to learn about new areas of research, while collaborating alongside invested and passionate faculty, students, and staff. It also allows me to build partnerships, be creative, and problem solve, which are three of my favorite things.
What was the most interesting thing you have learned this past year?

I finished my dissertation last spring, so the year has been full of learning! More recently, I have been making my way through all of the original Sherlock Holmes books and stories by Sir Aurthor Conan Doyle. Did you know Thomas Bruce Wheeler has created this digital interactive map of Sherlock Holmes's London? The 400 sites identified in his Mapped London of Sherlock Holmes e-book have hyperlinks to street-view photos, and GPS addresses to provide walking directions with your smart phone's GPS app.

If you could learn anything new what would that be?
I’d love to learn a new language - either Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and/or French.
What’s one ‘fun fact’ about you that not many people know?
I’m a huge sci-fi fan, particularly Star Trek.
