Fierce library advocates. Hear them roar!
From The Director
On February 25th, Paul and two tenacious library enthusiasts traveled, with several buses full of others from the Mid-Hudson Library System, to Albany to advocate for sustainable library funding. Paul, Diana, and Ginger met with Assemblymember Kevin Cahill and Senator Sue Serino to tell them a bit about what happens at RHPL and what is needed to keep it healthy. If you would like to advocate for state library funding you can do so here.
Many people now use digital formats as their preferred, or only, access to books and audiobooks. Already extremely expensive for libraries, recent shifts in digital licensing are further threatening patron access. Find our more about the #eBooksforAll campaign here.

Parents of RHCSD tweens and teens involved in Youth Speaks are invited to come learn more about the Path to Promise Initiative they have been working so hard on since this past fall. See below for the youth meeting, directly beforehand.
Start March creatively with Hands On: Crochet and learn from experienced teacher Cindy Fildes. We’re not promising anything but who knows what it could do for your blood pressure?
Expect a mix of new and old board games at Beer & Board Games at J&J’s Gourmet Cafe. The library supplies games and Julianne will have good food and drink available for purchase. Speaking of food, bring your lunch to the Brown Bag Matinee. March’s movie is Judy, with Renee Zellweger as Judy Garland. For those that love history (and lunch), register for Redeeming Sara Roosevelt: Mother of A Nation Mis-Written As A Monster-In-Law by Lexi Kerchner. Yes, Lexi’s back by popular demand!
On the practical side, learn about blogging with expert Christine Powers. This Worklife Today program is supported by the KeyBank Foundation. Also, learn how to protect your assets by avoiding scams. This program, with Brian Jones from the Dutchess County Office for Aging, is for all ages. Protect your health by learning the essentials of Lyme Disease with Mary-Beth Charno, Nurse Practitioner and specialist in the care of tick-borne illness.

Changes in Overdrive
Starting March 2nd Overdrive is introducing Hold Redelivery. This new feature eliminates automatic check-out of holds. When your hold turn arrives you will have a 3-day window in which you may check out the book, delay your hold, or cancel your hold. If you take no action, after three days Overdrive will automatically select Deliver Later for you, with a delivery date of seven days later. If you take no action a second time, your hold will be cancelled. Find out more here.
