Based on the British sitcom that ran on BBC1 from 1990 – 1994, this witty play features two-spirited residents of a retirement home who spend their time running rings around the home’s oppressive management and their own families. Essentially a comedy about growing old disgracefully!

Paul Madsen as Freddie Mercury with his session band. Paul has been Tributing Queen for 12 years and in this time the show has performed all around New Zealand at private functions, clubs and theatres.
20 years in the industry has certainly payed off with Paul creating a high energy show and positive vibe with his audience. Lots of crowd participation songs and the occasional guest singer from the dance floor make for a great night out!

Opera in the Garden is an annual concert organised by Opera North. This is the last year in which it will be held in the beautiful garden of the Operacado Orchard.
Guest stars this year are Eliza Boom, who is currently training at the National Opera Studio in London, and Kawiti Waetford. The concert will also feature the Opera North chorus.
If you would like to join the WINGS group at the event, text Laura (0224895967) so that you can be advised of the meeting time and place. Then, pack a chilly bin and a blanket or chair, and relax and enjoy an afternoon concert, filled with quality singing.

BEACH DAY

We had a really informative talk by members of Waipu Cove Surf Lifesaving Club, a tour of the clubhouse, inspected the the high speed rescue craft then played beach cricket. A few of us braved the considerable waves but had great fun learning to dive through breakers, body surf and boogie board accompanied by our personal lifeguard!

We practised shading by first making a monochrome study of a tomato followed by realistic colours. We used Masking Fluid as a resist medium to preserve the lightest areas....

WINGS were fortunate to be offered a free stall at Whangarei Artisan Market outside Reyburn House on Saturday 15th February 2020. We set up our Tombola stall at 8 a.m. and had fun selling tickets at $1 each as well as talking to lots of visitors about WINGS.

BLUE SHEETS AND GREEN SOCKS AVAILABLE!
We are all into recycling these days and I have these fabulous blue sheets that are used once, then they are thrown away. I work at Kensington Hospital and we have a lot of these. We use them when patients come out of the theatre to help transfer/move them. They are very strong, and great to use around the house e.g great for lining your car, moving soil/plants around the garden, decorating and many many more uses. I also take them to the dog pound.
 
I also have green socks, which are given to patients as they are anti-slip. They are only worn for a very short time and then discarded. I take them home, wash them and take to the hospice shop for resale.
I also am able to get these small glass jars. They are very useful for storing spices in or for arts and crafts. The jars do come with a metal edge, which will need removing (use a flat head screwdriver and be aware that the metal is sharp). Once removed it leaves a rubber stopper. The bottles have had liquid Paracetamol in so please do wash out jars thoroughly before putting anything edible in.
