Meet Diane Silva 👋

As Director of Philanthropy at London Community Foundation, localist Diane Silva knows that London is full of people (literally) investing in the creation of a more vibrant, smart and caring city.

Considering the work she's up to daily, we were excited to get a glimpse into her take on this city!

Q: What’s one of London’s best-kept secrets? 🤫
A: The Palace Theatre—it’s a great way to spend an evening out! They feature local talent and offer a wide variety of productions to suit any taste. Plus, I love the quaint and historic vibe of the building.

Q: What’s your favourite way to spend a Saturday in London? ❤️
A: I love taking my Jack Russell for walks through Boler Mountain in the winter and Springbank Park during the spring and summer. Both spots provide a great opportunity to engage in mindfulness while listening to the sounds of nature and chatting with new people. We are so lucky to have these gems in our community.

Q: Tell us about the last London thing you recommended to friends.🗣️
A: With a palpable sense of opportunity, great entertainment, shopping, restaurants, pubs (and more!), Old East Village is easily our go-to recommendation.

Q: What are you looking forward to in London this year? 🗓️
A: The summer music festivals! Rock the Park, Home County Music & Art Festival, and Sunfest (to name just a few) are a great way to unite Londoners and create a sense of local pride! We’re fortunate to enjoy all the amazing acts they land, right here in our backyard.

Q: Who should Londoners be paying attention to? 🔍
A: People should be paying attention to Sarah Askew, Founder of Mensadora/Rebel Rags, who has developed reusable menstrual care products to address period poverty and provide an environmentally friendly alternative.

It’s amazing to see the innovation in our community that is having a social and environmental impact, and I’ll be talking to more people like Sarah on the London Community Foundation’s upcoming podcast—so I’d say people should give that a listen when it launches too!
