It feels as though we’ve not spoken for a lifetime and we’ve so much to catch up on. Firstly, I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that summer felt totally discombobulated to me. All the cards seem to have been thrown up into the air as we’ve gone from drought relief, to bushfire appeals, the Coronavirus outbreak and heavens above we may just need to help out with a flood or two. Personally, Dorothea Mackellar’s poem, My Country, keeps spinning through my brain. Did you know Dorothea was actually travelling when she wrote this? Riddled with homesickness whilst in England, she jotted down her memories of her brothers farms near Gunnedah, at the tender age of 19, back in 1908. Over 100 years ago and yet still so relevant.
I would like to thank you for supporting Journeys to Come and I’d also love to ask what you’d like to see from us in 2020? We love to share others journeys with you, any tips we can pass on and to always be a conduit for your experiences. Please let us know how you’d like us to enhance your experience when we have your precious time.
I recently started my travels again with Getaway. It's my 24th year, which means I’ve been in this role for half my life. Yet the joy of filming is still the same, the inspirational people we meet on our travels still my highlight. We're already back on air and I hope you enjoy our homage to travels around Australia. Now more than ever our local businesses need your travel dollars and there’s so many awesome places to go. Any tips for me? I’m already thinking ahead to Easter holidays and where to take the children and I’m pretty darn excited about what we have on offer locally. I promise to keep the stories rolling as they come to hand and to share your experiences too.
Loads of love,
Catriona
