The Business of Busyness
We just got to enjoy a whole extra day of the year, AND daylight savings and spring are right around the corner! For someone who constantly feels like there aren't enough hours in the day, this time of the year always make me a little more hopeful!
Most days I feel like a chicken running around with my head cut off, especially since becoming a mom! Our business is budding, our baby is growing, and some days we're even racing to get to bed on time! hah!
On top of that, this upcoming weekend, we head to Costa Rica for our second annual EatMoveRest Retreat. We recently added a third to our schedule as well—this October we'll be headed to Bali for the first time! If you're interested in joining, be sure to scroll down for more info!
Core Work
This Lent, I didn't really give up anything (no sweets or swear words lol), but I did decide I'm going to work on my core—not just my physical core, but my spiritual core. It's not easy to slow down when you feel like you've got a full plate, and it's definitely not easy to simplify when everything matters to you!
A couple of quotes that resonated with me lately:
• You CAN have it all, just not all on the same day.
• Seek the face of God, not the hand of God.
How do these two relate? Rather than trying to do every single thing every single day, I'm working on doing less each day, by setting realistic goals, so I am better able to focus on the task at hand, and find some extra down time and white space. Something's gotta give, but I'm much more present and a better person in the process because I'm not rushing!
No matter how brief, in those moments I want to find more time for God—and not just in the sense that I'm praying and asking Him for the things that I think I want and/or need to happen in my life...
Face To Face
The Hebrew word translated, "face," is the same word translated as "presence," so if we're spending more time simply looking at God, we will feel/experience more of His presence in our lives.
By gliding through my day with a loosened grip on my schedule, I will be better able to find moments to connect with God. What kind of best friend would you choose? The one who's always asking something of you or the one who just wants to be around you? I think God wants us to be in the kind of relationship with Him where we aren't always begging and pleading, but befriending Him—kind of like going to the movies with a friend...you don't need to say anything to each other, but just knowing that it's a shared experience between the two of you is enough!
White Space
Even on your busiest days, take note of the gaps between activities on your to-do list—it's in those transitions that we can find white space. When you go from breakfast to the office, take a moment to find God—stop and smell the budding flowers! When you go from cleaning to cooking, take another moment to pause, mentally and physically, and be grateful for 3 things in your life.
Close your eyes, and just let God look at you. Less asking, more allowing.
• Where can you find white space and how will you use it to seek God's face?
• During what transition between tasks can you pause and let God in? Try it out and let me know how it goes!
“Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you.” Job 22:21
