Welcome to the March Landcare Newsletter....vastly different....and much shorter than what I had intended. I titled this email 'March Madness' (for my own humorous reference), little did I know what was to be nearly a week later!

What a difference a week makes....I started writing this newsletter at the end of last week and virtually had to delete most of it! There is some good news though...we have our Landholder Tree Project recommencing.

I have heard the most humorous references to landholder resilience in terms of how the COVID-19 virus has crippled many metropolitan areas, but due to the capabilities of rural communities and timing for many farmers, this time of solitude is being embraced.

We have to think of our hard working local businesses who have managed to support our communities through the drought and now are left with an entirely different challenge. Follow them on social media. Look at ways that you can still be purchasing locally. Ask if they will deliver. Just keep it local!

We are so fortunate that we live in Australia! The end of the earth for some....but for us...the best place on earth. We have a serious health concern and could I suggest that if there are some still out there poo pooing the situation, you haven't been one of the nearly 9,000 families who have lost a member of their family and now is time to take it seriously. By that, I don't mean panic.

The World Health Organisation has information on their website here, (updated yesterday), to assist in explaining methods to assist with prevention, etc. Links for Parkes and Forbes Council sites are at the end of the newsletter.

So, looking forward to lots of bowing and gesturing in the weeks ahead and hoping that many experience the opportunity to cook...and be a bit more creative with what is in the pantry.

CWLL Tree Project

Central West Lachlan Landcare are pleased to be able to offer up to 80 tubestock and guards to Landholder Landcare Members. With support from Landcare Australia and Inland Rail, we are looking forward to distribution over the next few weeks.

It is hoped that these trees and shrubs can be used to replace trees lost during the drought, or supplement other existing plantings.

Expression of Interest can be made by downloading the forms from our website here. Please note that EOI will be assessed and distributed on a first in first served basis and will be received up until Wednesday, 25 March 2020.
