"I always feel at home where the sugar maple grows. Glorious in autumn, a fountain of coolness in summer, sugar in its veins." John Burroughs

Hello Hudson Farmers' Market Friends!

WELCOME to the 2020 Hudson Indoor Farmers Market! We are so very happy to bring you all the quality and variety that you have come to expect from us over the years— with a particular emphasis this week on some sweet stuff!

With the warmer weather comes the running of the maples! With the running of the maples comes the inevitable slow boil that changes sap to syrup. This process really represents the magic that exists between natural events and human ingenuity.

No one in the area perfects this process better than the Farm at Miller’s Crossing. We stepped inside their sugar shack where all the magic happens and found out this awesome experimentation has been occurring for years. They originally started tapping trees as a project for their kids and they have grown it year after after.

The wonderful work that is done between the taps, the tubes, the extraction, the refinement, and the bottling is truly an art. They have spent many years growing this labor of love and it is made completely apparent when you taste their syrup.

You can find their delicious bottled syrup, and other maple based products like candies and sugar, at every market. Here’s a lovely recipe for maple roasted carrots that really hits the spot during our cool nights.

Blue Star Farm

And, if you haven’t had a chance to check out Happy Belly’s gluten free vegan apple fig elderberry oat bar this would be the weekend to grab one! This bar is made with apples from Red Oak Farm, maple from Miller’s Crossing, and their own elderberry syrup which was brewed with Sparrowbush ginger and some cloves. A perfect marriage of many local products!
