Some of you may have noticed a new addition to the bar area. A log stove was recently installed replacing the open fire. As someone said "the end of an era, but the beginning of a new one". A big thank you to Dave Palmer who looked after the purchase and installation of the stove.

Over the last few weeks there has been a few occasions where the flood lights have been left on after training. Besides the huge expense (energy bill is close to 20,000 a year) of operating the lights, it can be an inconvenience to the neighbours to have the lights on late into the evening. Please make a concerted effort to turn off the lights when training is over. If anyone needs to know how to turn them off, they can be shown the procedure to do so.

Due to its huge popularity we just started our second bout of Mothers and Other sessions this week. To date over 20 women have come to the sessions. It has given an opportunity for those to return to hockey after a long break and to those who have never played the game before.
In the lead up to a big celebration for International Women’s Day on March 8th the 20x20 campaign are asking the whole country to #ShowYourStripes for women in sport by choosing one of three pledges:
Pledge to Participate or play more, or
Pledge to Attend more women’s sporting events, or
Pledge to Promote, discuss, share, like or follow more female athletes.
The action is very simple but the impact of everybody pledging one small thing will have a ripple effect that can leave a significant legacy across all counties, all sports, and all communities.
The Mothers and Others sessions are part of the clubs commitment to the #20x20 campaign. #ShowYourStripes and make your commitment and pledge to one of the above.
