How to Manage Challenging Conversations with Confidence
Formerly called Courageous Conversations
Do you ever have challenging or difficult or sensitive conversations - with parents or carers, with young people, with supervisees, supervisors or colleagues? Are you ever taken by surprise? Do you ever feel anxious about a conversation? Do you ever feel you need to prepare but don't know how?
We provide a safe space for you to ask all your questions, explore a range of tools and approaches, and learn from colleagues in a multi-disciplinary environment, so that you feel more prepared and more confident in those conversations going forward... you might be surprised, they might not feel quite so challenging anymore.
We receive really positive feedback for this course and have commissioned two more sessions, please click below to reserve a place.
16 June - 9.30 - 16.30, Allendale House, Wimborne

Bookings
All delegates need their own individual Nexus account to book any Pan-Dorset SCP training. Please visit www.dorsetnexus.org.uk to register.
Before signing up to an account, check what team you should be under on Nexus. Often your organisation already has a site set up and within it, there may be multiple teams. The more accurate information we have, the quicker we will be able to set your account up.
Waiting list
This is no guarantee of a place. Please do not attend unless you have received an email confirming your booking.

Non-attendance & cancellations
Non-attendance on a course will mean that your organisation will be invoiced for the full cost of a place which has not been taken up.
Safeguarding cancellation or non-attendance charging policy is as follows;
- All cancellations must be requested via your Nexus account.
- Cancellations made more than 28 days before the course date will not be charged.
- Cancellations within 28 days of the course date will be charged the full cost. However, you have the option of nominating an alternative suitable person to take your place (you must contact the training team to agree this – please email lscbstraining@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk).
- Delegates’ non-attendance will be charged the full course fee.
- Free training courses will incur an admin fee of £25 for non-attendance or for cancellations within 28 days of the course date.
Unless there are exceptional circumstances, the full course fee will still be applied if you:
- Cancel a place less than 28 days before the course date
- Do not turn up on the day

Course attendance and certificates
It is a requirement that you attend the course in full. If you are unable to attend at short notice or on the day you should notify the Pan Dorset SCP Training Team via email lscbstraining@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk stating the reason for non-attendance.
Failure to attend a course on the day (or each day if it is a multiday course) will result in the full course fee being payable unless exceptional circumstances apply.
Late arrival or early departure (more than 30 minutes) from the course will result in you being shown as not completing the course.
Every course will have a delegate sign-in sheet on display - please make sure you sign this as how you prove you attended the course. You must sign the attendance register on all days of a multiday course. Failure to do so will result in your certificate being marked ‘part attended’.
Certificates are only sent out to delegates who have signed in. If you have not completed the course based on these criteria you will be marked on the register as not completing the course and you will not receive a certificate. Your employer will still be charged the full course fee for your attendance.

You may need to ask them for booking details and course materials.
