We are pleased to announce our "CRC Cares About Families" initiative.
When a family member is diagnosed with cancer and young children/teens are part of the household, there are some special needs to be met.  Our program addresses many of the concerns related to when & how to tell children about a diagnosis, and staff developed a new resource packet to provide information & support for families.

We hope you will join us to see what CRC has to offer families at our launch party at the Sciencenter on March 28 from 9-10am.  Sheryl Sinkow, professional photographer, will be taking family photos for you to take home as a free gift.  This event and CRC Cares About Families program was supported by a generous donation by the Saryn Emily Overby Koretsky Memorial Fund.
CRC Services and Exercise Class
Are you a cancer survivor who is living cancer free?  Have you sometimes wondered if the services provided by CRC and the free exercise classes are for you?
The answer is “YES”, all of our services and classes are for ANYONE
affected by or living with cancer, including those who have been diagnosed in the past and in remission, as well as those who are currently living with cancer, and/or going through treatment.

While our exercise classes are focused on exercise, health promotion, and stress reduction – having a chance to connect with other cancer survivors is an opportunity to be around a supportive community.  We welcome you and/or a caregiver to join Lee Ginenthal for Unconventional Training and Strengthening classes on Mondays at 12:00 (mixed gender) or 5:15 pm (Men Only class).  Or join Annie Stiver for yoga on Fridays at 12:00 pm (mixed gender).  Classes are an hour long and held at the Just Be Cause Center.  No registration required.  Yoga is also offered with Nick Boyar on Tuesdays from 9:30-11:00 am at Island Health and Fitness.  We encourage YOU to come and engage in health promotion with us!

These seminars are an on-going collaboration between CRC & cancer researchers at Cornell. The presentations are in lay language and questions are encouraged. Everyone is welcome! For more info &/or to be added to the distribution list for weekly reminders, email Bob Riter at rnr45@cornell.edu
Reception Volunteers Needed When people call or walk into our office, they are warmly greeted by a friendly face. This person could be YOU! We need folks to help with general reception work, including client assistance, research, and various projects. This position requires availability during regular business hours. Contact sharon@crcfl.net or 277-0960 if you are interested.
Volunteer Spotlights: Stephaney Powell and Gret Atkin
After a brief hiatus, Stephaney Powell has rejoined the volunteer team! Actually, Steph volunteered for CRC many years ago, then worked as a Client Services Assistant until September 2018. We feel so fortunate to have her back in the office, both as a Financial Advocate as well as a Reception volunteer. Steph’s background in science education as well as her adept research skills are a true asset to our clients. When not at CRC, Steph spends time with her family, plays volleyball, and is very involved in her kids’ school. #volunteersrock
Gret Atkin is a long-time resident of Ithaca. She spent 30 years at
Cornell doing research on clothing for people with disabilities and managing the 4-H Clothing Project. She was a CRC Reception volunteer from 2009 through 2015, and gave an astounding 4,347 hours of her time! A few years ago, she moved from Fall Creek to Longview, where she volunteers at the store and does clothing modifications for residents. In addition, she volunteers in Radiation Oncology at CMC and spends as much time as possible with her nearby grandsons Emmett (3) and Noah (almost 6). She is delighted to be volunteering again at the CRC Reception desk and looks forward to seeing friends from the past.  We feel very lucky to have her back!
Wishing a very Happy Birthday to these fabulous volunteers:
Betsy Schlesinger, Sally Grubb, Jiwon Kim,
Susan Dale-Hall, and Lee Ginenthal

As part of our Winter/Spring Wellness Classes, this month we have a special guest instructor volunteering to fill in for 2 of the yoga classes: Lyndsey Lyman of Radiant Soul Yoga. Gentle, slow-flowing yoga along with restorative poses.  Focus will
