“Filling in the Blanks Ministry” – Guatemala
Lawrence & Jo Adams

February 2020 | Adams Update
1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

The extra day of February affected us but in different ways.  There are 4 people living in our house in Guatemala.  Each with their own personality and quirks.
Lawrence was able to have a catch-up day.  It wasn't like any other Saturday.  This month he has worked on some "difficult" cars.  Cars that didn't want to be repaired or that was repaired previously and put back together without all of the parts.  God gave Lawrence the talents and ingenuity to prevail!

Many missionaries he assists are very grateful for him and his talents.  "There is nothing like having a trustworthy car mechanic to turn to in the midst of hectic missionary life! Lawrence’s expert knowledge and experience with automobiles have been a great help to me on a number of occasions. And if you are looking to purchase a vehicle, he has a wealth of knowledge to tap into. He has the skill to offer and heart to serve. I highly recommend his services." - Matt and Sarah Smith, Manages Encounter: Education in Missions
Jo spent her "extra day" coaching something she loves Volleyball.  She has taken on a new volunteer role at Christian Academy of Guatemala (CAG).  This school is a ministry that is devoted to the education of missionary kids.  This allows both parents to be involved in a ministry without the concern of the quality of their children's education.

Her position has many aspects. It is managing the documentation for all of the volunteers including the background checks, compliance forms with the school, and application/educational documentation.  It is helping to prepare the school and the staff for the upcoming re-certification for the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).  This certification allows the students to be able to transfer to universities in the USA without any issues.  A side opportunity was to the middle school girls volleyball team, where she was a to co-coach.  This was the first year for this program and with the help and support from coaches in the States she was able to teach fundamentals.  God is using Jo and her talents to glorify his Kingdom.
Lupe had school on the "extra day".  She goes to school 1 day per week and has homework during the week.  This is similar to a University course.  She is learning time management, working with those that have various personalities in group projects, and is excelling!  Her drive to want to succeed even through adversity is amazing.

Lupe is also volunteering in her own country and ministering to the 3 and 4-year-olds at CAG.  The kids love her and, while she knows she doesn't want to be a formal teacher, she loves the kids and does her best.  She also started assisting with ballet classes with the same-aged children.  She definitely has the heart to serve children.
Jenna's "extra day" was spent at a volleyball tournament, where her team took 1st place in their age bracket.  They were all very excited as it was the first year for this program and the first trophy for CAG Middle School.

Jenna is growing in her love for Christ and is learning how to show it more effectively.  She does her best to be kind and loving even to those difficult folks.

She has continued to dance Ballet and her knowledge and talents are growing.  We are proud of the strong, young women that both of these girls are becoming.

We also have a blessing!  The need to help young women transition from orphanages into adulthood is great and God has started opening the doors.  We have been able to look at one house within our community.  It is a promising option as long as God provides timing and funding.  This program costs about $15,000 per year.  We have several people faith promise donations once it is up and running.  We will need to have start-up funds.

An update is on our personal living expenses.  We are now 66% of the way funded!

Thank you so much for your love, support and prayers – we appreciate you and could absolutely not do this without each of you!

Blessings,
