WHAT'S THE WORD ON THE STREET?

13TH STREET COMMONS LAUNCHES THIS SATURDAY

The 13th St Commons project is intended to turn 13th Street into a community space that will support local merchants, visitors, and employees by radically reimagining the block between Broadway and Franklin. Uses for this block will include live music, yoga, arts and crafts fairs, and various other community supported events, as well as making the block more bike- and pedestrian-friendly.

View from 13th and Broadway earlier this week.
The unveiling celebration and grand opening is planned for this Saturday, March 7th, from 12PM-5PM.  There will be live music, food trucks and family fun, so c'mon down and bring your family and friends to enjoy the festivities!

98th AVENUE UPDATE

OakDOT responded quickly to the death of pedestrian Miesha Singleton in a hit-and-run on January 17 by hardening the center lane in front of Elmhurst Middle School with bollards and painted pavement.  These are intended to prevent vehicle use of the center lane for through traffic.  More improvements are on the way for this intersection and we'll keep you apprised as they progress.

The East Oakland Futures Festival is a block party with an Afrofuturistic theme showcasing the best in East Oakland’s food, arts, tech, and culture. With dozens of vendors and community-based organizations offering services on site, this festival will be fun and dynamic for attendees of all ages.

WOBO is looking for neighborhood folks to help make this happen, so if you live in the area of 90th Ave between Bancroft and International, please drop us an email using the button below.  Please be sure to include your phone number, your email address and the zip code for where you live or work.
