Reclaiming the Constitution
Friday, March 6th, 6-8 pm
Loussac Library
Hosted by Alaska Humanities Forum

Wendy Willis is a poet and essayist, writer, and leader in the field of civic engagement from Portland, OR. She is the Executive Director of the Deliberative Democracy Consortium and founding director of Oregon’s Kitchen Table, a civic engagement organization devoted to ensuring that all Oregonians have a voice in the decisions that affect them.

"It seems as everywhere we turn, someone is talking about the Constitution and, yet, if today's news is any indication, there is a lot of contested ground on just what it means to us and our everyday lives. Freedom of speech. The right to bear arms. The power of the government. It is the backdrop for everything we do, but how connected do we actually feel to it? What's working for you and what would you like to see changed?" This conversation will offer an opportunity for neighbors to talk about their connections and disconnections to our nation's most foundational document-the Constitution. More information here.
