UPDATE:

We are sorry to let you know that the private view of Nina Čelhar’s exhibition scheduled for this Thursday 5th of March 2020 at 6.30pm will have to be cancelled in consequence of the precautionary measures to be taken in connection with the COVID-19 outbreak put in place following the decision by the European Parliament to close all of its premises – in this case Europe House and the 12 Star Gallery - to public events.

We hope to reschedule the opening for the first available opportunity once these precautionary measures are lifted and the 12 Star Gallery has re-opened.

Meanwhile, please follow our social media where we will post the virtual tour of the exhibition which will be hanged as planned.

On the occasion of the celebration of Slovenian Day of Culture you are kindly invited to the opening of the exhibition To Dwell by Nina Čelhar, who comes from a younger generation of Slovenian artists working in the field of painting. Her work centres on the current residential architecture and its philosophy of creating people’s ideal living spaces.

In this exhibition Nina Čelhar presents a selection of paintings from an on-going series exploring questions such as what do we require from our living space, what kind of residence offers us balance with the outside world and how much impact can a suitable space have. Through the subtle process of choosing the colours, she transforms her paintings into venues of tranquillity. Between the external and internal physical spaces, the viewer is led into a psychological space stripped of all tangible distractions, where one can pause in its serenity, focusing only on themself.

Nina Čelhar (b. 1990) received a master’s degree in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design of the University of Ljubljana. She perfected her knowledge for a year at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, Germany. She has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in Slovenia and around Europe. In 2019, she was Artist-in-Residence of the Slovene Arts & Culture Residency in London, as well as taking part in residencies in Italy and Croatia. Her works are part of several collections (inter alia ESSL, RIKO and Luciano Benetton Collection). She is represented by Ravnikar Gallery Space.
