Why So Few CEOs are Women
"Why So Few CEOs Are Women" by Vanessa Fuhrmans is a recent article published by the Wall Street Journal that discusses how most executive corporate jobs are comprised of men. The article pulls in examples from a myriad of companies from different industries.
Here are some highlights:
* To become an executive player that runs a business, you need experience in P&L(Profit and Loss) roles. This requires some finance/accounting knowledge. * Avoid getting pigeonholed in one specific area or else you risk becoming "too good and too needed to be promoted or moved to any other part of the company." * The trek to being a corporate executive is even steeper for women of color. * Without having a pipeline for diverse talent, companies will struggle to have female representation at the executive level.
