O violoncelista nascido em Delaware passou parte de sua infância na Suécia e, eventualmente, estabeleceu-se em Nova York por vários anos, onde atuou com variados músicos de renome internacional e liderou projetos como o seu quarteto PEEP, a Creative Orchestra de Anthony Braxton, John Zorn, God Is My Co-Pilot e Selfhaters de Anthony Coleman. Toca regularmente com Ken Vandermark, Jim O'Rourke e Kevin Drumm, entre outros, e é membro do Peter Brötzmann Tentet. /// Fred Lonberg-Holm is one of the best cellists in creative music and works in several projects of avant-garde music, experimental rock and modern composition. He studied cello with Ardyth Alton and Orlando Cole and composition with Morton Feldman, Anthony Braxton and Bunita Marcus. The Delaware-born cellist spent part of his childhood in Sweden and eventually settled in New York for several years, where he performed with a number of internationally renowned musicians and led projects such as his PEEP quartet, Anthony Braxton's Creative Orchestra, John Zorn, God Is My Co-Pilot and Anthony Coleman's Selfhaters. He has performed all over North America in theaters, radio and television. As a composer, he had works commissioned by William Winant, Schanzer / Speach Duo, Kevin Norton and more. In the late 1990s, Lonberg-Holm moved to Chicago, where he has since become heavily involved in the free music scene. He plays regularly with Ken Vandermark, Jim O'Rourke and Kevin Drumm, among others, and is a member of Peter Brötzmann Tentet.
>> JOÃO ALMEIDA |https://soundcloud.com/joao-costa-e-de-almeida João Almeida (1997, Lisboa) obteve este ano uma licenciatura em jazz na Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa - Vertente Trompete, tendo completado a licenciatura em 2019. Durante o curso da sua licenciatura começa a colaborar com grupos-chave para o seu desenvolvimento enquanto músico, tais como a Orquestra de Jazz do Hotclube de Portugal. Integra o quinteto do jovem contrabaixista João Fragoso (Fragoso Quinteto) constituído por Miguel Rodrigues (Bateria), João Carreiro (Guitarra) e Albert Cirera (Saxofone Tenor), que em 2018 é selecionado pela editora Jazz ao Centro (JACC) para gravar um álbum na colectânea “Cena Jovem Jazz.pt” tendo o nome de “Dura Natureza”. Tem vindo a colaborar com músicos da área da música improvisada/free jazz como Gabriel Ferrandini, Pedro Alves Sousa, Hernâni Faustino, Hugo Antunes. Actualmente é aluno do trompetista norte-americano sediado em Lisboa, Peter Evans, e dá aulas particulares de trompete. /// João Almeida (1997, Lisbon) obtained a degree in jazz this year at Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa studying trumpet (2019). During the course of his degree he starts to collaborate with key groups for his development while musician, such as the Jazz Orchestra of the Hotclube de Portugal. A Diurna é um evento residente da Au Largo na Galeria Zaratan (Lisboa). Bimestralmente a Au Largo convida artistas ou editoras independentes e emergentes a juntarem-se na R. de São Bento 432, promovendo o clash entre projectos que mergulham entre vários géneros. Ao live na box negra da Zaratan junta-se simultaneamente o livestreming das actuações. /// Diurna is a resident event of Au Largo at Zaratan On a bimonthly basis, Au Largo invites independent and emerging artists or publishers to join R. de São Bento 432, promoting the clash between projects that dive between different genres. The live in the black box of Zaratan is added simultaneously to the livestreming of the performances.

Do rock ao experimentalismo ao techno ao soundcloud, tudo cabe nestes sets, no sec xxi já não se olha a géneros. /// Sometimes, in the silence that operates between the end of one Hail Mary and the beginning of another, HIFA exchanges the sophisticated Ableton Live for the modest but cohesive Virtual Dj to break some tracks with his mousepad. O ciclo Ñ-DJ*s surge como uma prática de exploração musical compartilhada: a Zaratan convida artistas de todas as áreas cujo trabalho seja de alguma forma relacionado com música e que não tenham pretensões ou actuações anteriores como dj´s, para seleccionarem o som utilizando para tal qualquer artifício mecânico/digital (k7´s, leitores de mp3´s, smartphones, pda´s, rádios, etc) que não os utilizados pelos "dj´s de carreira". /// The cycle Ñ-DJ*s is now back to the patio of Zaratan, to be enjoyed with a glass of red wine. It appears as a practice of shared musical exploration: Zaratan invites artists from all areas whose work is somehow related to music, with no pretensions or previous performances as Djs. This “not-dj's” select the sound using any type of mechanical/digital device (k7's of mp3's readers, smartphones, PDAs, radios, etc.) than those used by "career djs".

Zaratan and Lindsay Benedict invite the public to participate in a short film project. THE FILMING WILL TAKE PLACE BETWEEN MARCH 19-21, weather dependent. **Dates may change, so please contact us if you are interested. We seek a group of participants to play outdoor games on a secluded street or an abandoned industrial site. The film shoot will be quick, duration only one or two hours. There is no compensation for participation, but there will be refreshments with music planned at Zaratan in order to thank all the participants. NO MOVEMENT EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY -- COME AS YOU ARE AND ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIENDS TO JOIN YOU. IT SHOULD BE FUN :)

A Zaratan convida estudantes e jovens artistas para uma oficina de criação digital com Michael Borras. Este laboratório em grupo traz o mundo da arte para o virtual e de volta para a a realidade, abrindo a perspectiva de uma utilização expressiva da programação digital. A partir da criação de um artista digital, na forma de um avatar (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), os participantes são convidados para imaginar e produzir as obras deste artista virtual (gif, vídeo, 3d images, etc. A oficina culmina na apresentação de uma exposição real deste artista fictício. /// Zaratan invites students and young artists to a digital creation workshop with Michael Borras. This group laboratory brings the art world to the virtual and back to reality, opening the perspective of an expressive use of digital programming. From the creation of a digital artist, in the form of an avatar (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), participants are invited to imagine and produce the artworks of this virtual artist (gif, video, 3d images, etc. The workshop culminates in the presentation of a real exhibition by this fictional artist.
BIO: Systaime, cujo nome verdadeiro é Michael Borras, nascido em 29 de Janeiro de 1973 é um artista visual contemporâneo francês. O seu pseudónimo artístico Systaime, escolhido no final dos anos 90, quando era pintor figurativo, é a contracção das palavras "Système" e "Aime", a simbolizar o amor e o entendimento necessários para um processamento de dados ou um sistema político, a fim de contorná-lo, desviá-lo ou subvertê-lo. Ex-aluno da escola de arte, é um artista multidisciplinar e curador de exposições, activista da net.art e video jockey. Ele experimentou pintura, GIFs, remixes, Mash Up, blogs, livros, CDs, fotos, performances de áudio / vídeo, videoclipes, programas de TV. É mais conhecido como artista de redes e multimídia. Systaime define o seu estilo como "French Trash Touch", um nome de sua invenção derivado do movimento musical French Touch. Michaël Borras considera desnecessários os debates entre a "cultura alta" e a "subcultura", não havendo diferença entre um pintor que passa horas a frente de uma tela e um artista digital, que passa horas a frente de um ecrã para a criação de um GIF de poucos segundos. /// Systaime, whose real name is Michael Borras, born 29 January 1973 is a French contemporary visual artist. They symbolize for the artist the love and understanding that is necessary for a data processing or political system in order to circumvent, divert or subvert it.
