A message from GGU

These remain extremely difficult and unprecedented times for the game of golf as well as the country in general. The Gloucestershire Golf Union (GGU), through its Club’s Support Officer and County Golf Partnership, remains committed to helping its golfing community adapt to the changes in lifestyle and working practices. The pace of change and the constant updating of government and medical advice means that a continual process of re-assessment of decisions and guidelines must be undertaken. The GGU will continue to communicate through its website, social platforms and via direct correspondence to its affiliated golf club and members.

Away from golf, it is vital that everyone continues to follow best practice when it comes to dealing with the current outbreak of coronavirus.

Hopefully, we will all be back to playing golf soon but in the meantime, we sincerely hope that all our fellow golfers across the GGU are staying safe and well.

We've been taking the opportunity online to create new content on our social media feeds including tips for staying fit at home as well as fun challenges. Our 'keepy -uppy' video has had a great response so far. We'd love to see and hear about what your members are up to. Simply tag @GlosGolf in your posts or use the hashtag #GGUisolationGolf

Impact of Covid-19

In light of the ongoing situation, the GGU Executive met on 14 April and agreed to extend its previous list of cancelled or postponed events to 31 May. This includes all training events and matches (league or friendly). The Executive haven’t taken this decision lightly, but it obviously has a duty of care to everybody involved. Please be assured that the GGU Executive is closely monitoring the situation and has agreed to meet again on Tue 12 May when it will make further decisions as deemed necessary. Details of matches affected can be found on our website

Lockdown Lounge

As part of our efforts to create content for players and our member clubs during this time, Mark Powell Junior Chairman will be running exclusive weekly webinar interviews with players, greenkeepers and members of the union. These interviews aim to educate and inspire and will be worth signing up to. Make sure you join our Facebook community to get notifications of each week's theme and panel.
