Newsletter #1: March 3, 2020
One month ago, we deployed the new CanPlant website and waited eagerly to see what happened. The results have been rewarding, edifying, and have us looking forward to CanPlant's future. Here's a summary, plus some notes on what you can expect in CanPlant's near future.

The Month in Review

  • Members of the community that had formed around Evergreen's original Native Plant Database have connected with us. As the new stewards of a database that has meant a lot to so many people, we are heartened to see your continued interest in this project. Thank you!

  • We've picked up some newcomers as well: gardeners, designers, ecologists, nature lovers, and other plant people from across Canada who have just discovered CanPlant and have found value in it. To you, we say thank you for engaging with this project, and welcome

Coming Soon

Expect to see a CanPlant Online Shop in the near future.

All proceeds from items sold will go directly toward CanPlant's web hosting and other maintenance fees.

The People Behind CanPlant

The CanPlant team are a small group of employees working at Dougan & Associates, a small ecology business located in Guelph, Ontario. We're pleased to take this on as a unifying project that allows us to do some giving back.

If you want to get to know us better, look for profiles of us on Instagram soon, or come say hello at a live event.

How You Can Help

Working within a small business, we dedicate significant time, hard work, and money to maintain CanPlant.

We're currently exploring ways to make CanPlant financially sustainable with the hope of eventually being able to do even more. This could mean enhancing the database with more biodiversity data, adding more features to the site based on your feedback, attending more live Canadian events, or starting brand-new projects that use technology to connect people with plants.

If you believe this work is important, please consider becoming a Plant Database Steward by making a small monthly donation via our Patreon page. Every dollar donated will go toward making CanPlant the best resource it can be.
