MARCH 2020 NEWSLETTER
Reflecting on the priority projects in 2019

The Ilkley BID Business Plan set out a series of proposed projects based on 4 core themes:
  • Marketing the town
  • One voice for businesses
  • Maintaining Ilkley as an attractive place
  • Supporting businesses
In addition to reporting on the projects at our AGM in July, throughout March we are running a social media campaign to inform businesses and the local community about the progress of the BID, in the four key areas, since its launch.

You'll see posts and information reflecting on the year to date & how Ilkley BID has been working to fulfil its core aims, as well as delivering additional projects such as the street washing, sponsoring the Ilkley Business Awards and Ilkley's Got Heart.

Here's a summary of the core projects the BID board agreed to work on in year one. If you would like any further information why not pop in and see Helen at the BID's weekly drop-ins, on Tuesdays 1-pm-4.30pm or Wednesday 8.30am-12 noon?
Cleaning of Ilkley town centre paved areas and pavements starts again on 22 March, for two weeks.

The Street Cleaning team will be working from early evening to minimise disruption to commuters, shoppers and visitors. The industrial hot water jet washing removes dirt, oils, chewing gum and algae.

In addition to cleaning the pavements, the team also clean shop windows to ensure shop frontages are spic-and-span for opening the following morning.
Are you concerned about what to do if a member of staff or the public with suspected COVID-19 has recently been in your workplace?

If you are worried or have any questions the link below has information on what you should do in your workplace to help spread the risk of infection, including the handling of post, packages or food from affected areas and cleaning offices and public spaces.

Making Ilkley a more sustainable and eco-friendly town

After the second 'Green' Meeting, on 24 February, look out for a questionnaire from Wharfedale Tackles Plastics gathering information about the challenges and issues for business around sustainability and becoming more eco-friendly.

Issues discussed at the meeting included how firms could effectively recycle their printer ink cartridges, how business can secure free permits to recycle goods at the tip and retailers 'open door' policies, which results in heat and energy being lost during opening hours.

Tour de Yorkshire roadshows comes to Ilkley

Would you like to trial an electric van for FREE?

Bradford district businesses can benefit from a new electric vehicle (EV) trials scheme being delivered in partnership with Leeds City Council and Highways England.

The EV Trials scheme is a great opportunity for any organisation interested in finding out whether electric vehicles could help them save money, tackle air pollution and become more sustainable.

As part of the scheme, any organisation in West Yorkshire can trial an electric van for up to two months, free of charge, and with no obligation to purchase. Participating organisations will also receive independent and expert advice based on telematics and charging data to fully understand the environmental and financial case for investing in greener transport.

If you’re interested in finding out more, you can visit www.leeds.gov.uk/evtrials or email EVTrials@leeds.gov.uk
