#CSI7Anniversary Announcement: Childbirth Survival International's April 3, 2020 event to celebrate CSI's milestones and accelerate health systems strengthening is postponed.
Dear <<First Name>>,

At the heels of February and right into March to wrap up the first quarter, has been an experience of extraordinary leadership and teamwork. As a leader of a dynamic team, we have been working diligently to always stay true to impacting lives and amplify CSI's global-local work. As a trusted grassroots and impactful nonprofit organization, our leadership is often tasked with making the most cost-effective decisions to avoid disrupting or compromising in-country and community-based health and development programs. While we were looking forward to celebrate CSI's 7th anniversary, highlight the critical role of nurses and midwives, plus spark global-local health and community development conversations; we had serious challenges to consider and decided to postpone the event in order to stay 100% on course to impact lives.

CSI's multidisciplinary frontline team has always been essential to our work—they bridge gaps in health services, resources, and information for dozens of community members reducing burden of disease, disability, and death. In the middle of March, CSI, like many other organizations and businesses found itself responding to a global pandemic—COVID19—and we immediately reflected on our frontline staff, the low- to no-income families, and developed action steps to protect, educate, and serve. To become one of CSI's loyal donors and support our impactful efforts, we invite you to donate as little as $20 via a safe and secure platform Network for Good.

International Women's Day: Childbirth Kits for 300+ Pregnant Women
To witness a generation that has equal access to resources, services, and opportunities to equally survive and thrive, we first need to ensure expectant mothers are informed on quality prenatal care, they are supported to have healthy pregnancies and births, and are encouraged to give birth in a health facility with a skilled midwife. Lack of basic medical supplies such as gloves and sterile tools is one of the major barriers pregnant women face and decide to deliver at home without a skilled birth attendant. As part of CSI's Save Mothers of Africa program developed in 2013, CSI created a pathway to increase health facility births by providing women childbirth kits also known as mama kits. This International Women's Day was inspiring and absolutely highlighted the importance of maternal health and women's health especially in communities with limited health workers and resources. Special thanks to the Jewish Healthcare Foundation and Women's Health Activist Movement (WHAM) global for funding this effort. View CSI's #IWD2020 Gallery.
CSI Responds to COVID19 Community Needs: Food Security
Shortly after celebrating International Women's Day on March 8, 2020, the CSI Uganda team found themselves quickly planning for an emergency community response—food insecurity—as concerns of COVID19 kept growing parallel to the swift measures that were being implemented to slow down the rapid spread. In high poverty communities, we recognized a curfew or lockdown as a public safety precaution would equally increase vulnerability to hunger and food insecurity. Through generous donations, CSI provided 25 families with food (rice, sugar, and maize flour) and basic household supplies.

A Message from CSI Founders
As we approach CSI's Seventh Anniversary on April 3, 2020, we have tremendous appreciation for every single individual and the different local and international partners that have been involved with and/or supported CSI to advance and become one of the most recognized and impactful nonprofits. From the grassroots to the national level, CSI has a behind-the-scenes seat in improving and strengthening quality, access, literacy, and delivery of health services and resources—for pregnant women, women of reproductive age (15-49 years), the girl child, newborns, children, vulnerable adolescents, and youth. At the global level, CSI has earned a front row seat in contributing to action-oriented conversations and policies to advance progress of health and development, plus achievement of global, national, and local goals. When CSI was established— in our minds and to this day— it was established to stay. We are proud of our in-country teams, Bhim's leadership, and thankful to our donors, who have all been instrumental in CSI's impact and continued growth. A Happy 7th Birthday to CSI and Cheers to Many More Years of Collaboration, Sustainability, and Impact because #CSICares.
