Minister for Foreign Affairs Haavisto in Washington D.C.


Minister Pekka Haavisto visited Washington D.C. on February 27-28. The aim of the visit was to strengthen bilateral relations between Finland and the US and to discuss about current foreign policy issues. Minister Haavisto attended multiple high-level meetings. He met with the Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo, you can view the official readout here.

Exhibition of Finnish Public Libraries in DC: Mind-Building


In the D.C. area? Welcome to view the Mind-Building exhibition on Tuesday March 3 from 4pm till 7pm! During the evening we'll also screen two documentaries at 4pm, 5pm and 6pm: Tale of a library (28 min) and humorous Why these Finnish libraries are the best in the world (8 min).

Nordic Creative Industry Meets Hollywood


The Nordic Oscar Weekend (NOW) gathered film, TV, music and game industry professionals from the Nordics and US for a 3-day conference. The Consul General’s residence in Los Angeles hosted a vibrant networking event featuring a performance from Finnish music phenomenon, Isac Elliot. Finnish Night with the Carolina Hurricanes


Finns got to meet and greet the NHL hockey team Carolina Hurricanes at an event held for Finnish fans on Tuesday, February 24th, in Raleigh, North Carolina. There were many happy faces when the team's Finnish stars Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teräväinen, and Sami Vatanen came to talk with their fans after the home game. General Kivinen in the United States

 
Commander of the Finnish Defense Forces, General Timo Kivinen visited the US on February 23-27. He participated in several top-level meetings in Washington D.C. and met, among others, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark A. Milley. Read more about the meeting here.
