An Opportunity to Give a Hand-Up

Sometimes working hard is not good enough. That is especially true among the world’s poorest. Take the case of Muema and his wife Mary. They faithfully work hard on their small family farm and when rains fall sufficiently, they are barely able to grow enough food for their 5 kids. Without any modern skills and formal education, they can only earn pennies in any jobs they secure in the village. Indeed, their combined income is not enough to buy clothes and necessary school supplies for three of their boys (Peter, Joseph & Anthony) who are in school. Thomas, their oldest son is not in school and Esther, their only daughter is 2 years old and not in school yet.  Thomas, who is now 17 years old went to school up to third grade but was diagnosed with bipolar. The parents were asked to send him to a Special Needs School, but they couldn’t afford to pay fees.

I am presenting this family for your prayerful consideration to sponsor the kids. If you are looking for an opportunity to give a family hope through education, this family may be perfect for you. Maybe you can’t sponsor all of the five kids but can offer hope to one or two.  Now at 17 years old, the best we can offer Thomas is to send him to a Special Needs School to learn a skill. Peter the second born is 15 years old and in 8^th grade; Joseph is 12 years old and in 6^th grade; Anthony is 10 years old and in 4^th grade while Esther is 2 years and not in school yet.
