Dear <<First Name*>>,

Happy February to you! Hope that all is going well. Here is another project that I have been working on lately and a few exhibits where my work can be seen.

What's covered and what's not

Headlines (January 19-25, 2020), 23 by 22 inches, acrylic paint and image transfers on unstreched canvas, 2020

This artwork explores news media, what is covered by the news and what is not. Taking a look at my point of view, the headlines in the background are largely downplayed by the mass media news organizations while certain news stories are sensationalized. While the news in the image is, very serious, indeed, the viewer' entire attention is focused on it while many other important issues and current events are not discussed.

Recommended Reading

I recall reading To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee in the 9th grade but couldn't remember anything about it. It is told from the point of view of young Jean Louis and chronicles her and her brother Jem's experience growing up in the South. Exploring the greater themes of racism and justice, it is just as relevant today as when it was first published in 1960. Moments of sweetness and humor envelop this tale of lost innocence as the characters discover the kindness and cruelty that life can hold. I am glad to have re-read this timeless classic.
