This talk will examine the apparently intractable political and economic crisis facing Venezuela, the role of the military in keeping the present government in power, and how the Maduro regime has managed to hang onto power in the face of domestic and international pressures.

SV Reads: Paving the Way by Steve and Susan Swatt

Hear about the dramatic personal stories of some of the most unsung and long forgotten women who challenged the traditional concepts of women’s role and changed California’s public landscape with the passage of California women’s right to vote.

The book is titled Paving the Way: Women’s Struggles for Political Equity in California. Steve Swatt is a veteran political analyst and public affairs executive. Susie Swatt is a member of the National Advisory Council of the Institute of Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley.
 
 
Carbon Free MV on Greenhouse Gas Emissions
 
A  community discussion will focus on how CFMV can help Mountain View reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
Carbon Free Mountain View is a local grassroots group that promotes local environmental initiatives. Its members spearheaded the creation of Silicon Valley Clean Energy and the adoption of Reach Codes in Mountain View and throughout Silicon Valley.
