Trinity Swimming & Diving Teams Sweep SCAC Championships

Daniel Sarman and Caroline North Sweep SCAC Elite 19 Awards

Tiger swimmers Daniel Sarman and Caroline North secured the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Elite 19 awards, announced at the SCAC Championship meet on Saturday at Josh Davis Natatorium. The SCAC Elite 19 award recognizes academic achievement and athletic prowess in each conference sport. Read More →

Trinity Swimming & Diving Teams Receive Academic Honors

Each squad has been designated as an NCAA Division III Scholar All-America team for the fall 2019 semester. To qualify, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester. The Tiger women registered a GPA of 3.42, while the men posted a team mark of 3.12. Read More →

From Student-Athlete to Conference Commissioner: Portia Hoeg Charges Ahead


Portia Lowe Hoeg '01 is in a position of great responsibility, serving as executive director of the Centennial Conference in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

The 11-team athletic conference competes in the NCAA Division III, where student-athletes excel in their chosen sports and in the classroom. Some of the member institutions include Johns Hopkins (MD) University, Swarthmore (PA) College, and Bryn Mawr (PA) College.

Hoeg began her duties as head of the conference in April 2019 and became just the second full-time executive director in the 27-year history of the league. She also joins a group of 18 female conference commissioners in the NCAA Division III. Hoeg also became the first African-American woman to assume the position in Division III, and is one of just two African-American women, and five total African-Americans, who hold the commissioner's title in all of the Divisions. Trinity Cross Country Teams Receive Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

The 2019 squads were designated as USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams. For a team to be eligible, it must have scored at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum GPA of 3.10. The Tiger women registered a GPA of 3.29, while the men posted a mark of 3.27. Read More →

Sixty-seven Trinity Students Qualify for SCAC Academic Honor Roll

To be eligible, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the semester and be a regular member of a varsity athletic team in a conference-sponsored sport. Women's soccer led the way with 23 student-athletes, followed by men's soccer with 18. Trinity volleyball had 12 qualifiers, while women's cross country had eight, and the men's team posted six student-athletes on the roll. Read More →
