Welcome

Welcome to Music Australia’s first e-news of 2020, which features:

  • A report on the bushfire impact on the South Coast of NSW written by the Live Music Office's John Wardle, symbolic of the fire impact in multiple states. Our hearts go out to everyone in the music community impacted over these past months. We applaud all musicians and organisations currently involved in presenting fundraising performances, from stadium concerts to performances in small local clubs and halls;
  • Lior announced as our 2020 Mentor for Music: Count Us In;
  • Integrating live performance into music education;
  • Federal funding of regional arts projects;
  • Indigenous music providing insights into ancient land management practices;
  • Simone Young's appointment at the SSO;
  • The BBC's music education campaign focusing on primary school resources;

It was also great to see a new report which highlights the contribution music and arts events make to the tourism industry.
